I think I’ve lost a Library book... 

Borrowing Library books is FREE but they must be returned, undamaged, at the end of the loan period. If you lose or damage a book you must pay for a new one or you can replace the book yourself. If you find a lost book that you have already paid for we will give you a refund minus a £5 administration fee for each book. Take me home to the Library!

Step 1

Tell Library staff

Tell Library staff immediately if you think you’ve lost a book.

Can you find the book? Ask yourself a few of questions

Did I leave the book in a classroom or at work?

Did I lend the book to a friend?

Can my tutor help me find it?

If you cannot find the book go to Step 2

Step 2  

Pay for a replacement copy

Pay for a replacement copy at the Library counter If you have been sent a bill for the book you will need to go to the administration office to pay. A member of the Library staff will show you where this is. If you’d like to buy a replacement copy yourself go to Step 3

Step 3

Buy a replacement copy yourself Books must be replaced with the latest edition (version.) Ask Library staff for a print-out showing exact details of the book you will need to buy. You can buy books online or from a bookshop.

Buying books online 

Choose a reputable online bookseller e.g. www.amazon.co.uk or www.abebooks.co.uk When you buy online don’t forget to include the cost of postage. Before you order the book check that it has the correct ISBN (the barcode number on the back of a book.) This number is on the print-out given to you by a member of the Library staff showing the exact details of the book you need to buy.
