The Emerald Built Environment E-Journal Collection Search full-text articles from a collection of 18, quality, peer-reviewed journals relating to the builtenvironment. Use simple keyword searches to find current articles or explore back-issues from as far back as the 1980’s, in some instances. A list of the full contents of the collection is shown on the back page of this guide.

How do I access Emerald?
Log-in to Blackboard
Go to the Library area
Go to Electronic Resources
Select “Emerald Built Environment Collection”
Enter your College username and password when asked.
Go to College Information and Student/Staff access
Select “Library”
Click on “Visit Emerald”
Enter your College username and password when asked.

How do I search Emerald?
Type your keywords into the basic search box
If your search is returning too many journal articles try adding extra keywords to narrow the search or go to “Advanced search”
E.g.
Search for “Olympics” = 600+ articles
Search for “Olympics and sustainability” = 80+

Advanced search Click on “Advanced search”
Narrow your searches by using multiple keywords.
Search within specific fields. E.g. “All”, “Author” or “Title”.
Limit your search by date. E.g. Search for articles published in 2010 only. 4
Viewing your results What do these icons mean? Part of the LCB subscription, you can read this article. Backfiles (archives) are available for this title. If they are part of the LCB subscription you can read them. Earlycite. This service allows you to preview articles before they have been peer-reviewed and published in print, but only where they are part of the LCB subscription. Abstract only. You can read a short summary of this article but not the full-text.

Referencing articles from Emerald A full citation is given at the beginning of every article in Emerald. Use this information to build a reference for your bibliography but remember to quote Emerald as your source. E.g.:
