Richard Nixon was born on January 9, 1913 in Yorba Linda, California. When Richard Nixon was a kid his family did not have lot of food and clothing. Richard had three younger brothers. His father owned a lemon orchard in Yorba Linda but the orchard didn’t do very well. When Richard Nixon was nine years old, his family they moved to Whittier, California. His father opened a gas station and a grocery store. When Richard was old enough he would get up at 4:00 and drive to Los Angeles to go to the grocery store to get some fruit. He went to went to Whittier College and then to Duke. President Nixon accomplished many important things. People wanted him to be president. Richard Nixon started the Environmental Protection Agency and the Endangered Species Act. He was the first president to visit China. Some of the hardships that Nixon faced was the war in Vietnam. The people of the U.S. wanted soldiers to come home. Nixon taped himself talking with other people in the White House. Instead of being fired, Nixon quit as a president. The state of the country when was president good. The Watergate was scandal made Nixon leave Washington. He also ended the Vietnam war. He worked with Chinese and soviet Union president so they could be friends.
