Seasonal activities, unseasonal weather THOUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON FELT MORE LIKE a rainy day in autumn, June’s traditional activities were in full swing with swimming lessons and camps of every kind. Above, Wyatt Vetter, of Eudora, right, kicks with delight during his first lesson in basic water skills at the Eudora swimming pool. His classmates favored a more cautious approach. At left, Mad Science campers Isaac Loufa-Monroe, 8, left, goes head-to-head in a foot race with Katy Barrera, 12, as the two participate in an experiment involving resistance outside the Carnegie Building at Ninth and Vermont streets. Loufa-Monroe ran the race with a parachute fastened around his waist while Barrera carried 9-year-old Ender Isenburg on her back. In back is their group leader and “mad scientist,” Katy Ross.
