LAWRENCE RESIDENT CLYDE BYSOM, 96, spent his youth dreaming of becoming a famous musician, but World War II and an assignment to a B-29 bomber squad sidelined his career ambitions. Though he never got a stab at Carnegie Hall, he did get the elite gig of playing for the American flight crew who had just dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, on Aug. 6, 1945. Bysom still plays in a local band and practices about four days a week.
