DEAR LAWRENCE COMMUNITY

A warm and inviting “Hello” to you all! I am currently serving as Interim Executive Director and it has proven to be a joyful and wonderful experience.

Each day, I witness all levels of community activity around Art and Creativity. I have watched little ones and their parents file through our doors on their way to arts based Pre-school and Kindergarten. I’ve witnessed teens and other young at hearts scratching images into cards for a collaborative installation in our main lobby. During our Adult Classes, Instructors and Artists pass along their gifts and share their insights on the practice of Art: the engagement of intellect, handwork, and heartfelt expression. The Arts Center is home to an incredible amount of creative activity and community building daily.

Without doubt, we have work ahead of us as we evolve as an organization, but I look forward to partnering with those who cherish the Arts Center to begin a new chapter. Our organization’s 50-year history has helped curate and shape some of the most interesting aspects of who we are as a city- it would be difficult to imagine Lawrence without the Arts Center!

It is my sincere hope that you will take classes and grow with us, attend live performances, and visit our galleries to view and be challenged by the art and artists that mingle in our spaces. Come be a part of a vibrant and engaging community and when you feel moved by it, find a way to pay it forward. The Arts Center needs your support. You can join or renew your membership, make a tax-deductible donation or support us with an in-kind gift. However you choose to give, please know it makes a difference.

It is my pleasure to present this catalog of our offerings this winter and spring! I look forward to seeing you, meeting you, and continuing to serve you in my position.

With enthusiasm and sincerity,
