Reflection #10 March 24-28 This was an irregular week. Since we finished reading the novel “The Indian in the Cupboard” I decided to present the movie based on the novel. I was keeping a promise I had made to them that if they read I would present the movie and since they help up their part of the deal and I held up mine. First we had one last game to review and analyze the novel, and then we saw the movie for the rest of the week. I had never seen the movie but it was surprisingly long. By the end of the movie I had asked the students to create a table with two columns. In each column they had to write the things that were different from the novel and the things that stayed the same. The students seemed to like the movie and they did a great job with the table. I was glad to see that my quizzes paid off. After having a heart to heart with the group we were able to come to the terms I mentioned before and I was proud of them for holding up their end. That’s what students need not just in school but also at home, to understand boundaries and responsibility. I’m just glad I was able to teach them this particular lesson in an indirect way.
