RAISING THE STANDARD OF TAILORING by Laurie Wightman

W

e had the opportunity to sit down with owner, Rob Nikpour and General Manager/ Head Designer, Melanie Gircsis of SewRob to learn more about their premier local tailoring business here in Wayne. They have truly re-defined what high-end custom tailoring and apparel design stand for! How did the name SewRob come about? Can you embellish a bit on how Rob Nikpour became a custom tailor?

SewRob was actually developed as an evolution of sign names. Rob was running his first tailoring operation out of a garage where he made his first sign that read, Sewing by Rob. Eventually “by” dropped off, and SewRob became not only the name of the business but also our logo.  Rob gained the passion for this industry as a child while sitting on his grandmother’s lap and watching her crochet and knit. When he was an apparel retail manager, he was extremely unsatisfied with the tailoring he was receiving on his suits. He decided he was going to raise the standard of tailoring by preserving fabrics and finishing with the original manufacturer’s finishes. The title custom tailor doesn’t really capture the essence of SewRob, we truly are apparel engineers and architects. When did SewRob open in Eagle Village Shops located in Wayne, and what are all of the services you provide out of your Wayne location? WayneMagazine.com |March/April 2016
