sustainability hub College Park, MD Arch 403 6 weeks Fall 2020 Professor Brittany Williams The Sustainability Hub is a community gathering center which both serves and teaches the community about sustainability. It also acts as a refuge in times of crisis, with a large bathroom with showers and large kitchen. The goal of the design was to create a peaceful oasis from the busy environment of College Park. Two concrete L shapes create the private spaces on the first floor, which the large glass and wood volume is embedded in. The glass allows for daylighting, and a small pool inside allows for evaporative cooling. Additionally, there is a green wall system which creates a pleasant atmosphere for the outdoor space.
