WELCOME, HORNETS! Amessagefromtheprincipal.
Dear Laurel Hall Families,
As we wrap up our first few days of the school year, I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for this special community--teachers, students and parents The start of this year has been nothing short of wonderful, and it’s thanks to your enthusiasm, support, and trust in us that we’re off to such a fantastic beginning.

The sounds of joyful learning and connection across our campus have been a pleasure to witness I’ve enjoyed meeting students during their break times on the Quad, and the opportunity to connect with many new faces and names. Assisting with lockers, visiting classrooms, and seeing the happiness of our children as they immerse themselves in their learning environments has been rewarding.
I feel grateful for our dedicated teachers Their energy and commitment have set a positive tone for what promises to be a fantastic year ahead As we approach the Labor Day weekend, I hope you all enjoy a last hoorah before our full days and weeks begin. I’m excited for the continued growth and learning that’s to come. Have a wonderful holiday weekend.
GO HORNETS!
Warmly,
Marti McCloud Principal

Volunteer Attorney Wanted for Mock Trial
Every year the Middle School participates in Los Angeles County-wide Mock Trial through the Teach Democracy organization. Every year, under the supervision of LHS teacher Marla L’Angelle, students learn about law, attend a “mock” trial with a “real” judge in Downtown Los Angeles at the LA County Courthouse. There are two Downtown LA trips – one for Defense and one for Prosecution. Trials are scheduled against another LA School and occur in early November. If we “win,” we would move on and dates would continue
This year, we are in need of a volunteer attorney to help students learn the finer points of law and trials If you are an attorney and would like to volunteer – we need someone two days a week (your choice of days) after school from 3:15 – 4:30 as the trial gets closer, which is in early November.
The volunteer attorney gets all their service volunteer hours.
Attorney volunteers can be a parent from any grade; Mock Trial is grades 6 -8. Learn more about the Mock Trial program here.
Email Marla L’Angelle via mlangelle@laurelhall.com if you are interested.
