"The Formative Five" by Thomas Hoerr emphasizes the importance of developing essential non-cognitive skills in students, such as resilience, empathy, integrity, and self-control. For Laurel Hall School, this book serve as a guiding framework to strengthen partnerships with families and enhance student development.
At Laurel Hall School, you will thrive in the heart of a diverse, dynamic school community. Nestled on a serene five-acre campus in the heart of North Hollywood, your child builds curiosity and confidence through active questioning, real-world problem-solving, and thoughtful small-group work, alongside classmates from uncommonly diverse backgrounds. Students can explore California's Missions from multiple perspectives, build and race a robotics car, compete on the basketball team, play in our band, and travel to Sacramento with their teachers and classmates.
The Laurel Hall "Embrace Kindness Mission" is to educate and inspire the meaning of KINDNESS and encourage the practice of kind thoughts, words and acts. Kindness includes everyone. Educating students to empower them by having discussions about the meaning of kindness, incorporating ideas of empathy and generosity. Kindness empowers individuals to connect with one another, strengthening our relationships with peers, teachers, school and community.
Where most schools see a child, we see a family. Applications are continuously accepted by Laurel Hall School based on availability, however there are deadlines for fall entry in Transitional Kindergarten (TK), Kindergarten and middle school grades. After completing the admission process, our team evaluates each application with a holistic review to consider both academic and personal characteristics. Throughout this process, we enjoy learning more about your child’s potential as well as strengths and areas of concern. We look for students we believe will thrive at LHS.
