lockdown Overnight, the lives of many were flipped upside down.

Coronavirus, a virus originating in China, had spread to over 166 countries. It was not long until it crept its way into the United States. On March 11, 2020 the World Health Organization officially declared COVID-19 a pandemic. It was only two days later, on March 13 when President Trump declared a state of national emergency and SCPS closed school for the two weeks following spring break. The remainder of the year was spent digitally. Staying 6 feet away was officially the new normal. Stores

across the country were being swept clean from all toilet paper and cleaning products. Normal things such as talking to friends face-to-face were now considered dangerous in the eyes of health professionals.

Everything from baseball to musical theatre was cancelled as a result of the pandemic. With that, however, the senior class never ceased to stay together.

The Twin Lakes Class of 2020 was celebrated community wide. From signs to banners, the senior class was being recognized. “Our senior year may not have ended the way we

were planning, and we may have cut our own hair a few times, but we still looked forward to the better days ahead and made the most of what we were given” said Kaylan Howard. These unprecedented times have not just unified the senior class, but the world as people work together to fight an invisible enemy.

time for all from the wacky aspects of the show to the animated cast members on and off stage. The show was scheduled to be performed March 13 and 14 before it was canceled due to Covid-19 leaving a Friday matinee for elementary students as the lone performance.

Theater director Mrs. Willbanks is what gives these shows their magic. She pours everything she has into her "theater babies" and it shows. "This cast was so special to me; they clicked from the very beginning. I think the show was cast perfectly, and I think the cast, crew and orchestra will carry with them so many precious memories from Annie."

Ashton Yount has been in theatre since his freshman year, said, "Theatre is special because it's where you meet all of your closest friends. Theatre is a place for all to be accepted who they are. Shy quiet students can turn into leaders who make others feel at home. You learn how to work together with friends who will eventually become your family."

Musical Moments The final practice before the elementary performance Tommi Ibarra '20 (pictured) and some of his friends bought 50 cent corn dogs from Sonic and sprinkled them into the sets and around the show. At one point Ibarra made his judge entrance with a corn dog in his hand.

It's a Hard Knock Life!

At the beginning of the show we see the orphans and how spunky they are during their first number "It's A Hard Knock Life". They are seen through the show tormenting Miss Hannigan and being Annie's best friends. The orphans include, Molly (Hallie Egolf '23), Pepper (Amelia Ford '20), Hazel (Haley Morgan '20), Tessie (Addy Corn '23), Maggie (Tessa Kirchner '23), July (Bella Matthews '23), Duffy (Kaida Collard '23) and Kate (Emily Cross '20). At the end of the show they get their happy ending and are reunited with Annie. "My favorite part of being an orphan was playing mischievous girls that are neglected and vulnerable but also honest and lovable." said Haley Morgan, '20.

A show is as good as its villain, good thing this one has 3. Miss Hannigan (Rhiley Funk '20), Rooster Hannigan (Kaden Mohler '21) and Lily St. Regis (Emmalyn Rardon '21) are plotting to get Annie back into their clutches. "I loved the cast that I got to work with and Hannigan was a dream role for me. I'm really sad we never got to perform the show."- Rhiley Funk '20

When Annie gets to the mansion Warbucks' secretary Grace Ferrel (Grace Fry '21) and butler Drake (Brian Rodriguez '20) make sure Annie feels at home. Grace does that by becoming a mom figure and Drake and Annie become the best of friends. "I made many memories that I'll carry with me for the rest of my life, from me and Ashton singing songs wrong to everyone calling me mom (mainly Maggie). I wouldn't rather share my name with anyone else other than Grace Farrell." said Grace Fry, '21.

"The hardest part of the role for me was being able to take Rhiley seriously when she had to yell at me or push me to the ground. It's hard to be afraid of someone who you've laughed and cried with, she's one of my best friends. But on the other hand, it made being nasty to each other that much more fun." said, Maggie True, '22
