BOUCHERON

Since first launching in 1968, Boucheron’s Serpent Bohème collection has become an iconic element of the Maison’s modern heritage, blending elements of its history with innovation and creative freedom. In 2018, to mark its 50-year anniversary, Serpent Bohème appeared in a dazzling new incarnation. Eternally inspired by the snake, as a protective animal and symbol of infinity, Serpent Bohème has its roots in the earliest days of the Maison, when founder Frédéric Boucheron gifted his wife a serpent necklace for their 15th wedding anniversary in 1888. As he travelled the world on business, he felt that this gift with its talisman-like properties would protect her in his absence. For 2018, a poetic echo of that sentiment has been incorporated into the latest Serpent Bohème collection with the use of the deep blue stone of turquoise. This represents a beautiful evolution of the 2017 Serpent Bohème collection that introduced coloured gemstones for the first time on the iconic serpent motifs. In the Middle East, this new collection is particularly resonant; for thousands of years local traditions have held turquoise in esteem as a stone of mystical properties, a conveyor of positive emotions with the ability to protect and to heal. Indeed, many regard turquoise as symbolic of life itself. It is just such a vitality that this stone brings to the Serpent Bohème collection, where, combined with yellow gold and diamonds, it is rendered artfully in nine powerful creations.
