Loving You! Loving you has given me great memories that last. Memories of happiness we have shared in the past. Loving you has given me a beautiful today, a world of joy that makes my life complete in every way. Loving you has filled my days with dreams just made for you, and I know that our tomorrows will make all those dreams come true! (an original poem written by Toy to honor her Aunt Marilyn’s transition to heaven 04/98)

precious memories

Obituary LaToya Monique McLean affectionately known by all as “Toy” was born on October 3, 1985 in Santa Monica California to her mother, Sheila Russell and her father, the late James Cornelius McLean. Toy gave her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church of Los Angeles on January 2, 2011 by Dr. Ticey M. Brown, Pastor (and also her uncle).

Toy had one daughter, Nevaeh, who was her pride and joy and of whom she was so very proud. Toy loved doing make-up, and was a self-taught MUA (makeup artist) with awesome skills. On December 19, 2020, after a long, hard-fought battle with many illnesses, Toy passed peacefully in her sleep. We find comfort in knowing that her soul is now resting in the loving arms of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and that there is no more pain and suffering. Toy is survived by her loving daughter, Nevaeh Camarcia Rhoden.

She also leaves to cherish her memories: her mother Sheila Russell (Brian), siblings, Sheila Adkins-Miller (Aaron), Alva McLean, Rohan McLean, Jason McLean, Machel McLean, Roxanne McLean, Andrea McLean, Tajuan McLean, and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

OBITUARY

Toy graduated from Westchester High School in June 2003. She continued her education at UCLA, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology. Toy was a 2nd year law student at Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, when she fell ill and was forced to withdraw. Her life long dream was to become a lawyer, and despite her illness, she had recently been accepted back into law school to complete her law degree.
