All Gala proceeds from 2023 and 2024 will directly support a four-phase, $1,000,000 capital improvement project that will transform the museum’s current hands-on children’s galleries into interactive, STEAMbased spaces where artists and scientists of all ages will learn, explore, and grow. Phase 1 of this project, called “The Seed,” is scheduled to be completed by October 2023; the entire project is planned to be completed by the end of 2025, which is the 100th anniversary of the museum’s historic building.
Galaxy Sponsors who join us for a three-year commitment beginning in 2023 may choose to either:
• Commit all of their pledged funding (2023, 2024, and 2025 instal lments) toward the current hands-on gallery renovation project
• Commit their 2023 and 2024 installments toward the hands-on gallery renovation project and commit their 2025 installment toward a new capital improvement project to renovate LASM’s Ancient Egypt Gallery; beginning in 2025, Gala proceeds will support the Ancient Egypt project

I am pleased to invite you to join me and the Board of Trustees, Advisory Council, donors, volunteers, and staff of the Louisiana Art & Science Museum (LASM) to celebrate our 38th Annual Gala: Out of this World, honoring the 20th anniversary of the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium.
Thanks to the generosity of community leaders like you, last year’s 60th Anniversary Gala: Diamonds of History netted nearly $250,000 and was the museum’s most successful fundraising event to date. 2022’s Gala proceeds directly benefited Science Station’s transformation into "The Seed," a hands-on, STEAM-based gallery with an opening date planned for October 2023.
However, our work is not done yet. We need your help to make the remaining three phases of renovations to LASM’s hands-on, STEAM-based spaces possible. All funds raised by LASM’s Galas in 2022, 2023, and 2024 directly support this $1,000,000 capital project that is planned to be completed by 2025, the 100th anniversary of our historic building’s construction.

Our 2023
Gala Chairs
The theme for this year's Gala is inspired in part by and features imagery from an awe-inspiring piece from LASM’s permanent collection called Steere Kaert of Hemels Pleyn , or Star Chart of the Heavenly Plains. This celestial chart was used in the 17th and 18th centuries to identify astronomical objects, such as stars, constellations, and galaxies, and includes figurative representations of the Northern and Southern Hemispheres and measurements organized by zodiac signs.

In 2022, LASM kicked off a $1,000,000 phased capital improvement campaign to renovate all four of the museum’s hands-on, STEAM-based spaces by 2025. All funds raised by LASM’s annual Galas in 2022, 2023, and 2024 directly support important upgrades to these beloved spaces.
The transformation of Science Station into “The Seed” will complete Phase 1 of the renovation project, with an expected opening date of October 2023. “The Seed” will be a STEAM-based gallery that includes a variety of innovative, interactive, and engaging exhibits and activities designed to inspire artists and scientists of all ages to think critically, work collaboratively, solve problems, and consider education and career paths in STEAM fields.
