Although La Salle Academy was founded in 1848 on Canal Street, it found its true home at 44 East Second Street in the East Village, where it remained from 1856 until 2010 After spending 15 years at a different location, the Board of Trustees has announced that La Salle Academy will once again call 44 East Second Street "home" starting in Fall 2025
This period away from the original building has provided an opportunity to reimagine and upgrade the interior The revitalized space will feature state-of-the-art classrooms, advanced technology, modern labs, and enhanced athletic facilities, ensuring that the academy continues to offer a top-tier college prep education and experience for its students
“The decision to move La Salle from its longtime home on 2nd Street to the space on 6th Street in 2010 left a significant void for many alumni The original building, where countless boys had grown into men and where numerous friendships had been forged, felt like it was no longer a place we could revisit and reminisce about The sense of emptiness was palpable among us However, that emptiness was replaced with joy and exhilaration when it was announced that La Salle would be returning to its 2nd Street location The excitement among the alumni I speak with is truly contagious We are eager to merge the past with the future!”
