SWLA COMPETITION Larson-Juhl is always pleased to partner up with organisations such as the Society of Wildlife Artists, as it enables us to support up and coming artists on their journey. We are therefore delighted to be sponsoring the annual SWLA exhibition and competition again this year. The exhibition is called The Natural Eye and invites artists who are inspired by the natural world to submit their work for the exhibition, held in the beautiful Mall Galleries in central London. Each year, the exhibition showcases up to 400 works celebrating wildlife in a wide range of media including drawing, printmaking and sculpture. This year, there were lots of wonderful entries and the judges had a difficult time deciding upon a winner! But, the winner of the Larson-Juhl drawing award is Tianyin Wang who created a number of charcoal drawings that were absolutely stunning, so much so that the judges were unable to choose a favourite piece, so the award is for his works overall. Tianyin is an artist working primarily in charcoal drawing, using a unique technique that he has been developing since 2015. The technique involves using a combination of different charcoals to achieve a distinctive look, best described as motion impressionism. See more of Tianyin Wang on Instagram @tianyin_artist or take a look at The Natural Eye exhibition online at www.mallgalleries.org.uk/whats-on/exhibitions/natural-eye-2021
