Gordon’s interest and talent in the arts started at a young age. He had his paintings first exhibited at Dulwich College in London while still at high school. On leaving school he studied at The Glasgow School Of Art part-time whilst working as an artist in a few of Glasgow’s prominent advertising agencies before starting his own picture framing business at just 19 years old.

He continued to paint on the side, selling his paintings through his framing business, art fairs and galleries worldwide. Around seven years ago, Gordon retired from the framing industry, choosing to focus all of his attention on his flourishing artistic career.

Gordon describes himself as a modern Scottish colourist, a title he has adopted to avoid being pigeon-holed. His work is stunning and inspired by the Scottish landscapes around his home in Glasgow, both tranquil and dramatic.

For Gordon, 2020 was his busiest year yet as an artist, as many looked to improve their interior spaces. He made sales of his art worldwide, partially due to his excellent use of social media which he says allows him to reach potential customers outside of his usual customer base in the UK.

He said: “When I post a painting on social media, nine times out of 10 it sells almost immediately! It can be a lot of work, but it allows you to develop a global customer base.”

Despite his busy schedule as an artist, Gordon still does all of his own framing and wouldn’t have it any other way!
