Introducing Hempafire Pro 315: proven fire protection with very competitive loadings and higher application efficiency Even before launch at the end of 2018, Hempel had received orders for its new passive fire protection coating. We find out why Hempafire Pro 315 is so in demand.
When it comes to fire safety in buildings, passive fire protection (PFP) coatings are increasingly on the specification list. They bring several benefits compared to other conventional PFP methods. Beside easier application and maintenance they allow for an open building design and provide improved aesthetic finish. Launched at the end of last year, and now British Standard 476 certified, Hempel´s new passive fire protection coating Hempafire Pro 315 has been developed to maintain the stability of steel structures in the event of fire and can be used on all steel profiles. It is optimised for 60 minutes cellulosic fire protection and also provides additional protection for up to 90 minutes. What makes it different from other PFP coatings, however, is that it has been designed to increase efficiency by reducing costs and saving time during application. Very competitive loadings save time and costs When it comes to project efficiency, Hempafire Pro 315 is hard to beat. Thanks to the coating’s competitive loadings,
applicators require considerably lower dry film thicknesses on most steel profiles, ultimately reducing paint consumption. The lower film thicknesses also mean shorter drying times, which increases throughput and ensures the coating achieves better mechanical characteristics faster, reducing the risk of damage during handling and transportation. All this adds up to faster application, less waste and lower costs. For Vale Protective Coatings, a leading UK based offsite blasting and painting application company, these benefits were easy to see during application tests last year. According to Ashley Lowe, Commercial Director at Vale, the ease of application and subsequent time savings – as well as the high quality, professional finish – were impressive. “It actually applied better than the current market leader. The ease at which it applied and the finished aesthetic are just two of the features which will help make us more competitive in the market place,” he explains.
