Winter? Who said winters in Detroit are rough...
I would like to start by saying thank you for whomever is controlling the winter weather and not making it dump 3 feet of snow and prolong frigid temps. My knees thank you!
It has been a productive off season thus far. Front of the House Food and Beverage team has been busy with new training standards, creating an onboarding plan for those returning this spring and working diligently on creating and enhancing offerings to create value for you here at DGC.
We are undergoing some change in our Catering Sales Department, we have tentatively identified a replacement and based on several staff’s opinions, the new potential Catering Sales Manager will remind you of Jen Howton, I hear she was loved by many. I am also excited to announce a new Banquet Manager, we have identified a dynamo for that role, I look forward to announcing both hiring in the coming weeks. I must thank, everyone that has supported my “Learn Why You Like” drinking series. I believe we have had fun on Friday nights, I know I have enjoyed creating the experience for you with the F&B team. This is an event we are looking to extend throughout the year. If there are any ideas or special beverage nights you would like to enjoy, please feel free to share them with me. I encourage as many of you who can attend, to please attend March 8th, International Woman’s Day event.
As the 2024 Golf Season approaches us, if there is anything I can do to enhance your experience from a F&B experience or overall experience here at the Club, please share it with me so I can ensure we all have a fantastic 2024 season.

What is the membership application process?
Even though all members went through the application process themselves it is often hard to remember what the requirements were. Below will answer most of those questions if you find yourself sponsoring a potential member.
Application Requirements
The perspective member must complete and sign a Application for Membership. One Sponsor and one Endorser. Complete a background check.
Sponsoring or Endorsing a perspective member
The Sponsor/Endorser has to be voting members in good standing.
The Sponsor/Endorser has to personally know the person applying for membership.
Review & Posting
The perspective member and their spouse (if applicable) is required to meet with the Membership Committee and be introduced to Board members at a scheduled Meet & Greet.
The Sponsor/Endorser is required to introduce the perspective member at the Meet & Greet. If recommended by the Membership Committee the perspective member’s name and biographical data will be posted for at least two (2) weeks in the clubhouse. During the posting period any member of the club knowing of any good reason why a request for membership should not be approved should communicate this to the Board of Directors.
Following the posting period the Board of Directors will vote by ballot and the perspective member will be notified by the Membership Director if he/she was approved. If approved the next step is to attend an orientation.
Orientation & Membership Activation
Once approved each new member has to go through an orientation reviewing club rules and guidelines.
At the orientation the new member is given their membership number and website login as well as a membership welcome package.

North Course hole No. 4 was greatly improved by building a new green and lengthening hole to 403 yards.
North Course hole No. 14 was also given a new tee increasing it to 500 yards. With the Repel of Prohibition on December 5, 1933, the House Committee prepared for the sale of liquor.
The price of family dinners was increased to $1.
The Swimming Pool Committee was authorized to build an outdoor pool with limit of $25,000, which was to cover all necessary changes in clubhouse or grounds. The amount was raised subsequently to $30,000. The club borrowed $25,000 to finance the work.
Swimming pool fees for members were fixed at $.15 and for guests $.50. Accumulated fees were to be applied on swimming pool bank loan.
