Mayor’s message
Here in Lane Cove, we strive to create a place where our senior residents look forward to a bright future. That is why NSW Seniors Festival and, in fact, every day, is your ‘Time to Shine’.

We have recently worked together with our seniors to develop our strategy for an Age-Friendly Lane Cove. We received valuable input and are confident that our strategy reflects the aspirations and needs of the senior members of our community.
Council has teamed up with local community groups and experts in their field, to bring you over 30 events during the month of March – a chance to showcase your talents or learn something new.
Our centrepiece Seniors Festival event is Time to Shine in the Park, a garden party at our beloved Blackman Park. Here you will be able to take part in several wellness activities such as Walking Soccer or Tai Chi, or kick back and relax with a cuppa and a scone and enjoy performances from the Police band and Chinese fan dancers.

In the lead up to Christmas last year I enjoyed visits to some of our local residential care facilities. I learnt so much from my conversations with residents and I look forward to more conversations. And it made me proud to see so many residents stay in Lane Cove because they love where they live.

On behalf of Council, I would like to thank everyone involved in bringing Lane Cove Seniors Festival to life and encourage you to register for the Lane Cove Connection for details on monthly activities and events in our community at www.lanecove.nsw.gov.au/enews
