2017 TAIWAN LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE AWARD
基地位於台灣苗栗卓蘭。卓蘭四季氣候溫和、土地肥沃、水質優淨、日照 充足、日夜溫差大，是台灣水果的重要產地，素有水果之鄉的雅號。基地位 處山坡地，地形以階梯性分布，東北及西南向皆為兩脅隆起的丘壑，南側滿 布自然的樟樹林，西北向視野遼闊可遙望山巒雲霧，是一處群山包圍的秘境。 屋主是一位虔誠的基督徒，憑藉著一份分享的心，希望打造一個莊園，一個 可以跟教友們一起分享生活、一起禱告、一起讀經的莊園，並擷取聖經詩篇 121 篇 1-8 節「我要向山舉目；我的幫助從何而來？…」中的文字，做為莊 園的名字—『舉目山莊』，而「舉目」又恰巧與基地原有的幾棵台灣原生大 喬木「櫸木」同音，使得『分享』的精神更加融入當地的環境。 自然 生活 善意 分享 基地的前身是一座廢耕的葡萄園，我們利用原有階梯式地形的優勢，將莊 園的戶外休憩空間高低錯落的配置，交織其中的動線，將室內外空間和諧的 串連著。步道材質的轉換劃分出空間的使用性，將步道留設於空間的邊緣， 讓綠意的空間極大化，並可在漫步莊園時眺望遠山，而戶外隨處的一隅，則 都是值得駐足停留感受的山林芬芳。我們希望每個來這裡的客人都能走出來

苗栗卓蘭舉目山莊一、二期景觀設計 木荷景觀工程有限公司 孫培強 ( 簡稱木荷孫總 ) Zuo Lan Private Villa 1st & 2nd phase Landscape Design 採訪整理：蘇孟宗、周子玉 ( 簡稱學會 ) 照片提供：木荷景觀工程有限公司 (Muhe landscape design & construction company) Design Overview Jhuo Lan Residence - Cultivating Fusion in a Terrain Lifescape Jhuo Lan Residence integrates imaginations, techniques, and materials that manifest what garden making means in rural Taiwan. The project revisions the abandoned vineyard into a series of terrace gardens that fulfill the needs of the Client while preserving the genus loci that connects to the greater environment. The project fuses traditional Taiwanese values with modern landscape concepts to create a sophisticated lifestyle that address functional and environmental concerns that embodied both regional and modern garden practices. Jhuo Lan Residence is located on the hillside of Jhuo Lan, overlooking the Da’an River Valley. Jhuo Lan is known as the “Homeland of Fruits,” the mild climate, fertile soil, sufficient sunlight, and wide diurnal temperature variation makes Jhuo Lan the perfect location for growing pears, starfruit, citrus, and grapes. The site is bounded by hills on the northeast and southwest of the terrain and harbored by a camphor forest to the south. The elevated landscape faces the Da’an River Valley giving the site a stunning panorama of the mountains.
觸碰這個花園，或遊，或憩，在不經意的角落，欣賞一幅幅美麗的圖畫。 莊園裡的四季有著不同的顏色與風景。春天開滿小白花的流蘇和滿庭芳， 靜靜地散發著迷人的香味；百鈴花、火焰木的紅，落羽松、楓香、櫸木、樟 樹的綠和潺潺的水流及滿滿的蟬鳴宣告著夏天的來臨；唐楓的黃，青楓、烏 桕的紅，默默地佔據了莊園秋天的山頭及迎賓步道；冬天裡，桃花、李花、 櫻花、梅花及聖誕初雪，用白色、粉色妝點了整個莊園。

學會： 是否可以談一下這個庭園的來龍去脈，為何會有這個設計案，以及它如何形 成目前的狀況？ 木荷孫總： 擁有一個滿是玫瑰的英式庭園，是長久以來屋主心中一個極為浪漫的夢想， 也是屋主剛開始對於這個莊園的想像，但是在如此優美環境的自然山林之 中，與屋主經過多次的討論之後，我們選擇以不刻意而為、尊重自然、融入 生活作為莊園景觀的主軸，漸漸地構築出一個完整的莊園生活架構，在這群 山環繞的秘境之中，適地適物的打造出一處令人驚豔的世外桃源。
The property was originally a working vineyard, but grape production has been abandoned and the land left unattended. The Client was deeply attracted to the terraced agricultural landforms and the secluded rural lifestyle the site manifests. As a devout Christian, the Client’s dream was to have a place where friends and families could gather and share experiences of bible reading and prayer. The house is named “Glory Hill,” which is inspired by Psalm 121: "I lift up my eyes to the mountains — where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” The garden scheme derives from careful considerations of form and function, to create spaces that hosts large group gatherings as well as places for quiet strolling and contemplation. The Client initially imagined an English garden filled with roses, however through multiple reconnaissance and discussions, the design has been revised to take unassuming gestures that integrates the elegant environment into the daily lifestyle of the estate with respect to genus loci. Jhuo Lan Residence is composed of a series of uneven terraces with interlinking trails that also serve as extensions from the interior, merging indoor and outdoor spaces. The trails meander through the site with several nodes of interest along the path; water features, natural stones, and a diverse palette of vegetation provides a rich and seamless sensual experience for people strolling through. The planting plan is informal and gardenesque, the organic forms and textures of vegetation juxtaposes the rigidity of the terrace geography, creating a unique balance between human activity and nature. The plant materials are selected for their seasonal interests; small white tassels and privet that quietly exuding a charming fragrance in spring, the greenery of bald cypresses, sweet gums, beeches, and camphor trees forms a pleasant forest canopy in summer, colorations of various maples emphasize the beauty of autumn, and winter blossoms of peach, plum, cherry, and plum embellish the mountains with shades of white and pink. While a small portion of the vineyard has been recovered, more than 2/3 of the land are restored to native woodland to improve the ecosystem and soil stability.
