Established in 1984, SGS Africa is one of the most experienced safari companies in Botswana. It is based in Kazungula, the meeting point of four of Africa’s major wildlife states – Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia – thus putting it right in the heart of safari country. Southern Cross Safaris specialises in the oldest and most original form of camping safaris. It uses off-road vehicles to roam landscapes which have been barely discovered, to be close to the African nature, its people and wildlife. Safaris offered by Southern Cross Safaris include ‘Zambia – the real untamed Africa – Special’, ‘Nomads at the Kunene’, ‘Highlights of 3 African countries – with Caprivi’, ‘Botswana’s Paradise from the Delta to Victoria Falls’, ‘Botswana’s Paradise into the Delta’, ‘Adventurous Kaokoland’, ‘Starlight – Southern Cross’, ‘The Lost World of the Kalahari’, ‘Contrasts of the Wilderness’ and ‘Cultures of Namibia’.
Guests can choose a mobile safari or request a combined mobile and lodge experience as well as a variety of activities from game drives, boat cruises, mekoro and much more. ineraries can also be organised based on a full lodge experience.
Travel is in specially adjusted Unimogs or Landcruisers, which are equipped with tanks to carry water and fuel, in order to be totally independent from any water and fuel recourse. This enables stays for longer periods of time in the most remote areas such as Moremi, Chobe and the Kaokoland.
