Traditional e Mixed Illustration

My visual language
Drawing has always been part of my life.
Since I was a child I was very curious about every shape and color coming from the outside world and I reproduced it, on all the surrounding surfaces, including the walls of the house.
As I grew up, I went out to explore places near home and I felt in love with nature diversity. Due it my interest in landscapes and in particular with the naturalistic/floral world growing up day by day as you could see in my portfolio.
Step by step I began to use almost all the best-known techniques; pastels, acrylics, watercolors etc. I went through various phases, guided more by the use of colors than by techniques.
Quality contrasts with desaturated tone are my favori-
tes: they contain the elegance and emotion that I look for in my illustrations.
I prefer pastels, layering with patience, and acrylic colors which allow them to produce images with more impact from an aesthetic point of view, but equally engaging if calibrated. An example are some tables regarding the project of an illustrated book on three Japanese myths and legends.
Lately, I have been using stronger contrasts with complementary colors that are enhanced in turn, capable of evoking more imaginative and lively themes, as you will see in the last pages.
Digital has arrived in the final stages and editing of the illustrated tables

Pattern
Repeat pattern design is a drawing technique that involves creating a pattern that can be repeated to create a continuous texture on a surface, such as fabrics, wallpapers, household products, clothing, tableware, and so on.

About me

My name is Simona Riccomi, but I chose to use a stage name which suits me better than my baptismal name: lamelaconic. I choose this special name for two reasons: to recall my pleasantly dramatic nature, but also to remind me that my unconditional love for white chocolate leads me to develop two cheeks of notable cheerfulness.
I always knew that drawing would help me to live, to escape and why not to dream.
I became first a graphic designer and then I expanded my interests to other disciplines related to drawing. Over time I obtained a qualification as a tattoo technician (hence my passion for botanical drawings) and for a period I was involved in the creation of artisanal jewellery, from wax models to casting. The beauty of the artistic world is the possibility to integrate everything you learn, to updates everything with new techniques and knowledge: in some way you could became a new person.
