OUR BIG DAY Nikki & Jennifer
So tell us how you met, were you single for a long time before you started dating?
Both Jen and I were single for a year and half to 2 years before we met each other.

How long after you started dating did it take to pop the question, was it an immediate yes?
And who and who It took 18 months of dating before I asked the big question, I decorated the garage with 200 plus red and silver balloons, had a soccer ball made with “Jen will you marry me?” printed on it and an Irish engagement ring attached to it. Once I asked her there was a brief pause and Jen said yes!!
Tell us about your big day, location, amount of guests etc. Was it planned pre Covid, had you to alter many things?

As we live in Australia and I don’t have an EU passport we had to have a small wedding in Australia, we originally only wanted to get married in Ireland but unfortunately the consulate said this would not be possible. Even with this hiccup we kept with the plan of having a ceremony at the Lord Bagenal 2 months later with Jens family and friends, 7 Australians joined us as well as 3 members of my Italian family which was amazing. In total we had nearly 100 guests, Sue from the Lord Bagenal organised everything for us, we had a video chat so I could see the room and there were numerous email conversations over the months leading up to the wedding making all the necessary menu selections, updating guest numbers and seating plans. Any changes or questions we had was never a problem and to be perfectly honest it is so stressful organising one let alone two weddings, a wedding in another country can be daunting when you can’t physically be there but Sue was amazing she made sure we were happy and everything was organised perfectly.

What about the food and drink?
OMG all I can say is 100/100 is was amazing food, all our guests are still commenting on our wedding, the food, drinks and service was perfect. The staff were all amazing, every detail was planned and went off without a hitch for example; Niall had the foresight having Italian red wine placed at every table as he knew there would be some Italians attending the wedding. I didn’t request this it was just done and it’s all those small things that really make your day amazing. So a massive shout out to Sue ,Niall and their team thank you for an amazing day.

Were there any hiccups or did all go to plan?
The only hiccup was that not realising Jen and I forgot a few guests off the seating plan, eventhough we had gone over it all a thousand times we made a stuff up. We were not told about this until later in the evening as the staff took it in their stride, set the table for the guests and everything went along as if nothing had happened. Absolutely amazing if I knew we had forgotten someone I would have just panicked and been so stressed but that was all taken care of without us realising.
Have you or are you going on honeymoon?
After the wedding we spent 2 weeks in Ireland and Scotland then we went to Europe for 3 weeks, visiting Copenhagen, Brugge, Ypres, Amsterdam, Paris, Venice, Turin and Balangero and finally Barcelona.
In your day to day lives are you into the same things?
What interests do you have that are different
? In our day to day lives Jen is a fitter and works with trains and I’m a Personal Trainer/ Fitness Instructor so we are from quite different work backgrounds. I love fitness and exercise and Jen loves her soccer which
