We were just about to finalise our new brochure for autumn and winter 2022 when we heard the very sad news of the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II. I would like to pay my personal tribute to her for the extraordinary contribution she made to all of our lives, and to say how very much she will be missed. As we move into a new Carolean era, it is inevitably a turning point.
A very hot summer has now given way to longer evenings and unpredictable weather, but it is at least welcome to be able to look forward to winter layering, rich textures and fireside comfort.
My ranges are usually associated with colour and this season is no exception. Black Watch shades of navy and bottle feature alongside burgundy, burnt orange, turquoise, sapphire, greys and ever-glamorous winter white. To carry on the theme, we also have tartan printed velvet - just perfect for drafty dinner parties or winter cocktails.
The styling for the coming season celebrates British tailoring. I have always loved tuxedos for women as they are eternally chic and a great alternative to fussier options for evening. Coats too feature strongly as do ‘blazer’ jackets and midi dresses. I am so glad that I am able to continue to make all of the clothing in London, with all of the benefits that delivers in terms of responsible production and sustainability.
Handbags are available to go with every combination and look wonderful in seasonal shades such as bronze and pewter, orange, bottle and burgundy - all are easy to see at our newly opened handbag boutique in Burlington Arcade. Made in Italy and Spain by skilled artisans and using leather from Italian tanneries, the bags echo my love for classic shapes and attention to detail.
