CLUB UPDATE

BRIAN PIZZIMENTI

brian.pizzimenti@lakenona.com

407.209.1221

Dear Members,

The month of April followed March’s lead in terms of being a busy and active month at the Club. The weather was fantastic which supported all our outdoor dining, events, and activities, with great participation for golf, racquet sports and family recreation.

We hosted several events throughout the month of April, several of which were golf-inspired fun for the golfer and non-golfer alike, including: Pairings, Pours & Putters where attendees had fun maneuvering the 9-hole miniature course enjoying food and wine pairings at every hole; the Masters Wine Dinner was truly a masterpiece with Chef’s tableside paella being the absolute highlight of the evening; the Glo Golf event transformed the Driving Range to a golfing playground for adults inclusive of bar bites and beverages; lastly, several successful season-ending golf tournaments were contested: the Par 3 Championship, Ladies Member-Member, and the inaugural Mixed Golf Invitational. The LNLA hosted a very successful Volunteering Fair that attracted a great crowd to help make a difference and an impact for local charities. The Spring Fling was a huge hit with a spring inspired buffet and fun and exciting games and crafts for all family members. Fitness & Wellness hosted several “Lunch and Learn” events which were well attended and educational. While Nona Crew kept our younger Members with new programming (the Scott Sutter Soccer Program and Big Dream Bloom “Cosmetic Chemistry”), along with their monthly events for all ages. Thank you to all of our families for joining us and enjoying the social vibrancy of the Club!

In other Club news, Nick Dolimpio and the greens and grounds team have the golf course in great condition which is supported by the regular comments I've been receiving on how outstanding the playing conditions are here at Lake Nona. In dining, the new, seasonally inspired menus have been well received - a true testament to how the culinary team has enhanced the dining experience at the Club. With summer on the horizon, Lake Nona is gearing up for three summer camp options this year - Nona Crew Summer Camp, Junior Tennis & Pickleball Summer Camp, and an all-new Junior Golf Camp - for endless fun-in-the-sun! I encourage you to register early to secure your spot.

Club programming in May remains steadfast featuring several seasonal celebrations early in the month, followed by the start of our summer programming later in the month. Be sure to mark your calendars for these upcoming events:

• 150th Kentucky Derby Viewing Party (May 4)

• Cinco De Mayo Family Fiesta (May 5)

• Mother's Day Brunch (May 12)

• Fired Up! Pizza Party (May 17)

• Red, White & Blue BBQ (May 27)

• E. Guigal Rhone Wine Dinner (May 29)

Lastly, in leadership team news, after 17 years at Lake Nona, the Club wished a fond farewell to our dedicated Director of Fitness & Sports Performance Maria Esham as she embarks on a new career endeavor. The Club is also delighted to announce the appointment of Lisa Santangelo as our new Director of Fitness & Wellness. A familiar face to many, Lisa has worked alongside Maria for the past 10 years as a certified group fitness instructor and results-oriented personal trainer, and has established relationships with many of our Members. Please join me in welcoming Lisa to this new role.

Thank you for your continued support, as your feedback is always welcomed and I look forward to seeing you and your families enjoying all aspects of Club.

Sincerely,

4 MAY 2024

MATT COLLIS

matt.collis@lakenona.com

As we head into the warmer month of May, the course is still delivering some of the best playing conditions we have ever seen. It is firm and fast, which is in no small part due to the clearing projects, promoting good air flow through the course and drier conditions. We continue to work towards reducing the ropes and stakes you see on the course, but still see far too many Member carts in areas of the course they should not be, such as on tee box banks and approaches to greens. In order for us to eliminate these current course protections, which will undoubtedly make the course even more picturesque, it is critical all players are adhering to the brown post markers for entering and exiting the fairways, staying off tee banks, and away from greens and approaches. The course is our greatest asset and we should all take pride in being good stewards of it.

April closed out our seasonal Club tournament calendar, with the winners of our Match Play Knockout decided, a big congratulations to all of our winners their dedicated play over these last four months! Our inaugural Mixed & Couples' Invitational was a huge success also and the fun format was won by Jonas & Johanna Hagan and their guests. We look forward to seeing this event grow next year and become a staple on the golf calendar.

Looking ahead, I am pleased to announce that we just secured Taylor Fulbright, one of the best club builders in the country, to visit this summer for two very unique and bespoke club fitting opportunities. Mark your calendars for May 18 & 19 and June 22 & 23, as more information will be forthcoming.

On the Professional Tours, a big congratulations to Tyrrell Hatton who’s Legion XIII team won the LIV Miami event and he also had a T4 finish individually. We also had our first Majors of the year at Augusta and The Chevron on the LPGA Tour. These brought strong finishes with Tyrrell placing a career high T9 and Ben An who finished T16 in pursuit of the green jacket. The Chevron saw eight Lake Nona Members tee it up, with Nasa Hataoka being our highest placed finisher with a T13 to start the Major season. Good luck to all our touring professionals in this month's Majors - the Women’s US Open and the PGA Championship.

NICHOLAS DOLIMPIO

ndolimpio@lakenona.com

407.209.1281

I trust everyone has been enjoying their time on the golf course over the past month. Our aim for firm and fast conditions has not only been met, but exceeded, courtesy of our dedicated team! We're committed to maintaining this standard throughout May until we begin aerification at the end of the month. These exceptional playing conditions are a direct outcome of our summer aerification efforts.

As a reminder, aerification will begin Tuesday, May 28 through June 5 at which time the course will be closed, however, the driving range will remain open May 31 - June 2 and June 4 & 5. Building on last year's success, we'll be implementing similar processes with some fine-tuning. Our initial aerification is the most intensive, taking advantage of optimal weather conditions for swift recovery. Our target is to achieve 80-90% recovery within two weeks of reopening. Below is a brief summary of our aerification plans:

• Greens, Tees, and Approaches: Aerification with 5/8” Hollow Cores, Verticutting, Topdressing

• Fairways: Intensive Verticutting, Scalping, Increased Sand Topdressing, Solid Tining

• Rough: Overseed Removal, Solid Tining

As we maintain our greens, we have noticed a rise in unrepaired ball marks. While the firmness of the greens may minimize their visibility, we encourage everyone to take a moment to find and repair their ball mark and another, if possible. This small gesture ensures a smoother putting surface for all.

Furthermore, as we transition the rough, please remember to drive on the greenest grass to preserve turf quality. Thank you for your cooperation, and we hope everyone continues to enjoy their time on the golf course and this beautiful spring weather!

CART POLICIES

With the addition of the cart path marker posts on the golf course (pictured right), we wanted to share a friendly reminder of the cart policies intended to protect the course conditions for your continued enjoyment.

• Carts must remain on cart paths around all tees and greens complexes.

• Carts may enter/exit the hole only once they have passed the wooden marker post.

• Carts are not permitted on approaches.

• Carts must stay on cart paths when “Cart Path Only” signs are displayed.

Members caught violating these policies will be subject to disciplinary action.

FITNESS & WELLNESS

LEADERSHIP TEAM UPDATE

The Club wishes a fond farewell to our Director of Fitness & Sports Performance Maria Esham, and congratulates Lisa Santangelo on being appointed as the new Director of Fitness & Wellness.

FOND FAREWELL Maria Esham

After 17 years at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club, our dedicated Director of Fitness & Sports Performance Maria Esham has decided to pursue a new opportunity with Orange County. Originally serving as the Community Association Manager for Lake Nona Estates Community Association for over 12 years, Maria then transitioned into her current leadership role at the Bath & Racquet Club, where her passion for fitness and wellness flourished the past four and a half years. During Maria’s tenure overseeing Bath & Racquet Club operations and activities, the Club has added amenities (pontoon and padel boats), expanded programming to include monthly wellness series and initiatives, added junior fitness events and training, and offered creative and safe programming during the global pandemic. We are greatly appreciative of her years of dedicated service, her passion for fitness and wellness, and her relationships with our Members and residents - she will certainly be missed.

We wish Maria the very best as she embarks on her next chapter and support her in future career endeavors.

CONGRATULATIONS

Lisa Santangelo, Director of Fitness & Wellness

The Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Lisa Santangelo as our new Director of Fitness & Wellness. A familiar face to many, Lisa has worked directly with and alongside our previous Director, Maria Esham, fellow personal trainers, and Bath & Racquet team members, for the past 10 years as a certified group fitness instructor and results-oriented personal trainer, and has established relationships with many of our Members.

Upon moving to Florida in 2010, she has worked as a group exercise instructor at several corporate companies including: the Lake Nona YMCA, KPMG, Del Webb Sunbridge, and Nemours Children’s Health. She holds additional certifications in spinning, boot camp, cardio kickboxing, CPR and AED. With her extensive background in the health and fitness industry, coupled with her passion for fitness, performance, nutrition, and general wellbeing, Lisa is a seamless fit for this role.

Lisa will oversee all fitness and wellness operations and activities to include: amenities, staff, personal training, group exercise, swimming/water sports. She will also work closely with Director of Racquet Sports Kelvin Rivera to ensure we provide optimal racquet instruction, clinics, classes, and events which meet the needs of our Members.

With the beautiful spring weather, now is a perfect time to join us on the courts to tune-up your game or try tennis or pickleball for the first time. I encourage you to join us at one of our weekly clinics available to adults and juniors or schedule a private lesson to establish a training plan to follow. If you are new to tennis or pickleball and are not sure about which type of racquet or paddle to use, or you are an active player interested in trying a new frame, demo racquets and paddles are available daily at the Bath & Racquet Club. I also encourage you to try out our ball machines, which provide great cardiovascular exercise in a short amount of time while also helping you practice your racquet skills.

Congratulations to our amazing Ladies Wait C Team who finished their third season of competitive play in the Top 5 of the Central Florida Ladies' Tennis League! A new season kicks off the third week in August and we are in search of interested players to grow our team. Players of all levels are welcome to join us for fun and competitive matches, as we work together to grow our game and represent Lake Nona against other local area clubs. If you are interested in league play, please contact myself (krivera@lakenona.com) or Pedro (Pedro.Estrada@LakeNona.com) for more information.
