Phase Two is Ready to Roll Phase Two of the Horizon Plan, the renovation of the Community Center, is on track and ready to start. Contracts have been signed and permits are in process with hopes to have them in hand in the next few days. We did experience a few challenges in the permit process which will force us to dip into our contingency. In addition, we have had to revise our building timeline. Our initial hope was to have some sections of our locker rooms accessible throughout the construction process but due to permitting this is not possible. Members will still be able to use our other restrooms but no shower or locker facilities will be available. The new construction schedule breaks the Phase into two parts. The first part includes the Aquatic Facility, locker rooms and the fitness room expansion. The aquatic facility (including pool, sauna, steam room, hot tub and patio) and locker rooms will be closing on June 25th to begin renovation. The Fitness Center will still be available throughout the construction other than the regularly scheduled November shutdown. The second part which includes building in the existing pavilion and construction of the new pavilion is scheduled to start at the end of the summer. Part one is scheduled to be completed by the winter holidays break and part two will be completed shortly after, by the end of January. We understand this will present a challenge for some of our Members and apologize for the inconvenience. These growing pains will be well worth our larger locker rooms, zero entry pool with water features, expanded Fitness Center, and new pavilion. rd

During the three recent town meetings regarding the enhancement of the Community C Center many Members expressed their challenges within the Club or the Community. While these concerns did not pertain to the Horizon Plan vote, we tried our best to provide W input to their concerns. When the Club instituted the Membership Picture ID’s a picture retake schedule was developed so that your picture will be updated every four years. Children can choose to have their pictures retaken more often. It is important to keep your picture current so that no confusion will occur at any of the amenities. ID badges are now scanned at the amenities and your picture will be displayed on the monitor so it is even more important to keep your picture current. The Club encourages Members with last names starting with R through Z to stop by the Administrative Office to have your picture retaken at your convenience. To avoid delays in picking up your 2017 Membership ID Cards, have your picture retaken this summer. Yes, if you have been diligently following the schedule this will be your second retake. The last time your picture was taken was in 2013. All other Members who have not had their pictures retaken are requested to stop in the Administrative Office as soon as possible. Please remember the importance of carrying your ID badge with you at all times. The summer season brings in many new faces and all Team Members are instructed to check badges. Please do not be insulted to show your badge. Memorial Day Celebration Fun

The Club’s trash collection vendor utilizes a commingled recycling collection program whereby many types of recycling items can be placed in a single container and are then sorted respectively at the recycling plant. Recycling is good for the environment, human health and the economy. The recyclables that you place in your curbside bin or Club recycling container begin a ripple effect of benefits. To start with, recyclables have value. By turning waste into valuable raw materials, recycling creates jobs, builds more competitive manufacturing and adds significantly to the nation’s economy. Recycling also promotes the sustainable use of our natural resources, saves energy, reduces pollution and contributes to many other health and environmental benefits. Below are items that are being collected under the Club’s curbside recycling program: Plastic Containers: Recycle #1 - #7 plastics only (mostly beverage and detergent containers). Guidelines for Walking Paths

As we head into the busy summer season and have many more Members and their guests using our walking paths, please do your part to avoid congestion and potentially hazardous situations. Regardless of whether you are bicycling, walking, or jogging, if you follow the same set of rules as everyone else, your trip will be safer and more enjoyable. Help make the trails in Lake Naomi and Timber Trails safe for everyone by using the following guidelines:

Be Courteous. All trail users, including bicyclists, joggers, walkers and wheelchairs, should be respectful of other users regardless of their mode, speed or level of skill. Be Predictable. Travel in a consistent and predictable manner. Always look behind before changing positions on the trail. Don't Block The Trail. When in a group or with your pets, use no more than half the trail so as not to block the flow of other users. Keep Right. Stay as near to the right side of the trail as is safe, except when passing another user. Pass On The Left. Pass others, going your direction, on their left. YIELD TO SLOWER AND ON-COMING TRAFFIC. Use hand signals to alert those behind you of your moves. Look ahead and back to make sure the lane is clear before you pull out and pass. Pass with ample separation and do not move back to the right until safely past. REMEMBER: KIDS AND PETS CAN BE UNPREDICTABLE. Stopping. When stopping, move off of the trail. Beware of others approaching you from behind and make sure they know you are pulling over. Give Audible Warning BEFORE Passing. Give a clear signal by using voice, bell or horn before passing. Give the person you are passing time to respond. Watch for their reaction. So that you can hear these signals, don't wear headphones on the trail. Obey All Signs. Use extra caution where trails cross streets. Stop at all signs and intersections and be cautious when crossing driveways. When entering or crossing a trail yield to traffic on the trail. Use Lights At Night. Be equipped with lights when using a trail at any time from dusk to dawn. Bicyclists should have a white light visible from five- hundred feet to the front and a red or amber light visible from five-hundred feet to the rear. Other trail users should have white lights visible from two-hundred fifty feet to the front, and a red or amber light visible from two-hundred fifty feet to the rear. Don't Use A Trail Under The Influence Of Alcohol Or Drugs. Don't overestimate the safety of any trail. You may need all of your reflexes quickly -- don't have them impaired. Clean Up Litter. Do not leave glass, paper, cans, plastic, or any other debris on or near a trail. If you drop something, please remove it immediately. Always Exercise Due Care And Caution.

Lake Naomi Club Q & A I hear that the Mountaintop Lodge (MTL) is losing money, is this true? The answer is no. The Lodge has never lost money since we have owned it. The purchase and renovation of the Lodge added about $64,000 a year debt service to the Capital Improvement Loan. The average annual cash flow for the past 3 years was $71,000 or $7,000 more than debt service. The 2016 budgeted cash flow is $94,000. These cash flows are less than was originally anticipated. We have had challenges an in making the pastry shop profitable bbecause of initially high payroll and waste. We have taken steps to corw rect these problems, but we still anre ticipate a loss from the pastry shop ti in 2016. On the other hand, the lodgiing portion of total cash flow has been excellent and is able to cover the pastry shop losses. Any cash flow in excess of debt service is used to fund Lodge reserves for capital replacements and enhancements. The Strategic Financial Plan has been amended to account for the Lodge’s revised contribution to debt service. The Lodge Task Force and Management continue to look for ways to balance the profitability of the Lodge and the service to our Members, operating with sound business practices. Why are Golf Maintenance and the Club Contractors permitted to mow grass before and after the “contractor hours” set by the Club and the Associations? The Club amenities are not subject to the residential deed restrictions and thus the architectural regulations. It is a case of something that benefits Club Members in mass versus a project that benefits a single Club/Community Member. Thus the Club is not subject to the contractor hour limitations. Otherwise the Club would not be able to service the various facilities and have the facilities ready y for Member use. I have seen motor boats on Lake Naomi. I thought they weren’t N ppermitted? e The Club owns four Boston T Whaler Patrol Boats. At the W height of the boating season, a he maximum of three of the Safety m Boats are in use. These are the B only gasoline powered motor on boats permitted on Lake Naomi. bo
