As the renovation of the Community Center nears completion, Management would like to take this opportunity to thank the membership for their support and understanding during the renovations. The Club has received many positive remarks along with constructive feedback for the parts of the project that have been completed and opened to the Membership. Those Members who got to take a dip in the expanded pool over the holiday week raved about the new addition. As the Club reported, the pool had to be closed the first of the year due to what appeared to be a leak in the pool. Scott Hall and his team after much investigation were able to isolate the leak to the fire suppression system which uses the pool as a water reservoir. After the specialized equipment was delivered the leak was repaired and the pool returned to use within a couple weeks. The Construction Company has informed the Club that the Phase Two Project should be completed by the end of January or early February. In addition, the Club is happy to report that the cost for the entire project looks to be on budget. The absolute ending cost will be communicated to the membership once the project is finalized. Once again, the Club thanks the membership for their consideration with the limited use of the Community Center for the last several months. This project will serve as a great benefit to members for years to come. Keep your eyes open for an official grand re-opening celebration over Memorial Day Weekend.

Membership Dues & Association Fees The Accounting Department needs your help! Many Members are not aware that the Lake Naomi Club, The Pocono Pines Community Association and the Timber Trails Community Association are three separate and very different organizations, each governed by different state and federal laws. Each of these organizations has its own bank accounts, its own general ledger and its own audit. The Lake Naomi Club and the two home owner associations work together whenever possible to make things easier for all of their Members as we all coexist as one large happy group. However, please remember that when paying your Lake Naomi Membership dues and when paying your PPCA or TTCA association fees, the two should not be combined on one check. A separate check to each entity is required to satisfy GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures) set forth by the Club’s and Association’s auditors. The Club and the Associations appreciate your timely payments and your assistance with keeping the books in good order. Please remember that all association fees, including multiple property owners, must be paid prior to your 2017 membership packet pick-up.

Bad Weather Office and Community Center Closing As most residents of Lake Naomi and Timber Trails are aware, winter weather can make driving conditions in Pocono Pines and vicinity difficult and dangerous. This factor combined with the significant distance that a number of the Club's Support Personnel travel in order to get to the Administrative Office and Community Center makes staffing these areas on some bad weather days a real challenge. You can be assured that every effort will be made to have the Administrative Office and Community Center open and staffed during all stated times of operation, regardless of weather conditions. However, the Club seeks your indulgence and understanding for those rare occasions when the Office and/or Community Center may not be able to be staffed due to extreme weather conditions. During times of bad weather, be sure to call ahead before traveling to the Administrative Office or Community Center.

Special Artwork displayed at the LSCC The Lake Naomi Club is pleased to announce that the Club has again teamed up with the Pocono Mountain Arts Council to provide space for local artists and members of the council to display their work. Since the Spring of 2008, Members have been able to view the PMAC’s Rotating Gallery right here in the Community Center. The display will consist of eight to ten pieces of artwork from two artists each month and is located in the mezzanine and the stairwell loft area of the Community Center. It is also no secret that we have many talented artists among the LNC Members. Artists from LN-TT are welcome to display their work as well in the Adult Activity Room of the Community Center if they are members of the PMAC. If you are interested in becoming part of this rotating gallery, please contact Kelly Swingle at 570-6468585. 6

Community Center Multipurpose Room Etiquette While Members are utilizing the Community Center’s Multipurpose Room for indoor tennis play, they sometimes find it challenging to share the space with the recreation participants on the other side of the curtain. Because the LSCC is a multiuse facility, all Members are asked to be familiar with and practice the Multipurpose Room guidelines which follow and are outlined in the Leisure Service Guide. It is suggested that Members call ahead when planning on using the MPR as programming may be scheduled which could limit access for general use. Multipurpose Room Guidelines: Please only wear shoes with non-marking soles. Athletic shirts and shorts are required, cut-offs are not permitted. Roughhousing and horseplay is considered unsafe and not permitted att any time. Please do not hang on the basketball rims or lean on the tennis nets. Food and eating are not permitted in the multi-purpose room. Drinks are only permitted in reusable plastic containers with lids (i.e. sports bottles.) Please limit curtain movement between courts. Players are expected to practice court etiquette at all Lake Naomi Club Tennis facilities: Be respectful to the adjacent court at all times, especially when walking in and out and when retrieving balls. Should the need to interrupt arise, please w wait until after the point in play. w Courteous and sportsmanlike conduct is always co expected. ex Limit disruptive ti conversation and behavior. an Profane language P is never acceptable. The Club is hoping to get a jump on hiring in the area so positions may fill quickly. Please don’t wait to apply if you are interested. Applications are available online at www.LakeNaomiClub.com under Contact Us. Hard copies are also available at both the Administrative Office and Community Center.

Please Soak Safely The hot tub, steam room and sauna at the Community Center are more heavily utilized in winter to relax and warm up. We ask that while you soothe your body and rejuvenate your spirits, please follow the recommended guidelines below to help you soak safely: •Consult before you soak. If you suffer from any medical conditions such as cardiovascular or respiratory disorders, diabetes, high/low blood pressure or others make sure you have your doctor’s okay before you go in the hot tub. •Observe a reasonable 10 minute total time limit when soaking in the hot tub, steam room or sauna and cool down between uses. **One should never move from the hot tub directly to the steam room or sauna or vice versa if the 10 minute time limit in the spa area has been reached. •Exit immediately and notify staff if feeling any kind of discomfort such as dizziness, nausea, lightheadedness or feeling faint. •Alcohol, drugs, medications and hot temperatures don’t mix. Spa heat accelerates the effects of alcohol and drugs and can cause unconsciousness. •Please note that pregnant women should consult their physicians before use. •No one under the age of 16 years is permitted in any Spa Facilities or areas. •Please respect the Lifeguards who will be monitoring the above guidelines and looking out for Member safety.

Important Community Center Pool Note During the Radio Controlled Penguin Sailboat Race being held from 7-11AM on Sunday, February 5th, no pool use or spa use will be permitted until the event is over and the entire areas reopens at 11AM.

Improved Opportunity for Indoor Pool Etiquette Since the LSCC pool’s opening Members have been asked to rinse off before entering the pool, steam room, sauna or hot tub by utilizing the showers between the locker rooms and Natatorium. This is especially important if you have just worked up a sweat in the fitness center or multi-purpose room. NOW you can also and more conveniently remove sweat from a steam, sauna or tub before entering the pool by using the shower head in the Spa area. Your fellow Members thank you!

Community Center Guests While the Club is always happy to entertain guests at Lake Naomi Timber Trails, please be mindful of the Community Center guidelines throughout the balance of this winter season, especially President’s Weekend. There is a limit of six guests per day per Family Membership on weekdays and four guests per day per Family Membership on weekends and holidays. Also please remember that in order for a guest to use the facility, the Member must be present ty with them. In fairness to our w Members, we will not be making M any exceptions to these policies an during winter holiday periods. du

Happy Tennis New Year 2017 Lake Naomi Club Officers Newly elected Officers of the 2017 Board of Trustees and the Board of Governors are as follows: Board of Trustees President Connell McGill Vice President George Bernardin Secretary Cary Levinson Treasurer Kathy Hyatt Board of Governors Chair Caroline Kopchains Vice Chair Howard Cooper All Members of the Lake Naomi Club Board of Trustees and the Board of Governors are Property Owners in Lake Naomi or Timber Trails and all serve as volunteers. Members of the Board of Trustees and Board of Governors receive no financial remuneration or special consideration of any type.

Greetings from Florida, As the new year begins, we tend to reflect back on 2016 and look at areas that need improvement as we have the new twelve months ahead. At the present moment, I am working on hiring a new teaching staff and thinking of new ideas to improve your tennis experience for you and your families. Madeline Shaak is the only college instructor returning. In the March newsletter, I will update my progress in these areas. In the meantime, here are some tennis tips for you to ponder. Beginners Tip: Choosing the right racket is very important. Do not go to a grocery store to purchase one. Find a good pro to give you two or three rackets for you to demo. The string tension should be somewhere in the mid-range and the weight should be comfortable for you to swing. Intermediate Players: You need work on placement so spend the next few months on perfecting crosscourt and down-the- line shots. More shoulder turn will help hitting down the line and a half-closed, half-open stance will aid in going crosscourt. Advanced/Competitive Tip: Work on staying relaxed and focused during play. A lapse in concentration can cost you critical points. If you sense you are in a walkabout, collect yourself at the changeover by staring at the net post. Say positive things to yourself and do not let the little things like let cords bother you. Best of luck to you all this coming year. Whatever your goals are, work hard at them and never give up! Hopefully, the tennis members at the Lake Naomi Club will continue to play prior to the summer season and return with a new shot mastered over the winter months. Best wishes for many aces, Richard P.S. The first person that wishes me a happy new year will receive a one hour complimentary tennis lesson. My email is tennispro523@hotmail.com.

Winter is Platform Tennis Season Now that winter is here we’re seeing more use of the Platform Tennis Courts and find it time to remind the Membership of some pertinent information to help best utilize the courts. •The Platform Tennis court has a heating feature and IS ONLY used to melt away ice PRIOR to your play. It cannot be used during play to warm the court area and may not be turned on by Members. •Courts are available seven days a week anytime the LSCC is open. •All Members are permitted to play with no court fees. •Racquets and balls are available for check out at the reception desk. Eye protection is highly recommended and athletic shoes are required. •PLEASE call the Community Center in advance so we can make sure the deck is clear of snow and ice for you. •Courts are first come, first to play, but if you have a group wishing to play at a particular time, please call to reserve the courts with the receptionist and we will make every effort to accommodate your request. •The reception desk keeps platform tennis highlights sheets as well as the official rules for the Members to use. Additional information can also be found on the APTA website at www.platformtennis.org. Many Members are now organizing regular games. Please contact the Community Center at (570) 646-8585 if you are interested in getting involved.

The Pool Penguins are Coming on Sunday, February 5th Trivia Question: What LNC sailing fleet sails year round (at the Administrative Marina in warm months and the indoor pool in cold months)? Answer: Lake Naomi Club’s radio controlled sailing fleet sails RC Lasers which are 42” long, and have a wide choice of four sail sizes to match differing wind conditions. They were designed for sailing in ponds and lakes. Another RC sailboat, was designed specifically for sailing in indoor pools and are called Pool Penguins. They are only 10.5” long and have a single size of sail. The RC Laser Fleet is hosting a Penguin Regatta and demonstration on Sunday February 5th. This will be a unique experience as the designer of the Penguin will be in attendance and is bringing a fleet of boats for use. Starting soon after the LSCC opens at 7:00 AM, sailors who are familiar with sailboat right-of-way rules are invited to sail in the Regatta. This will be run like a normal RC Regatta and there will be a $20 fee to cover boat rental and other expenses. Everyone is welcome to come see the excitement as well. Once the Regatta is concluded, and before 11AM when the pool will reopen for normal use, there will be a time for anyone to try their hand at sailing these fun little boats. So this day has two objectives: (1) have a fun time sailing and, (2) see how our set up and fans work with a much smaller boat, with a much smaller sail to see if we’d like to consider this for future sailing. Come out and see the Pool Penguins in the indoor pool and try your hand at navigating around the pool with in the Regatta setting or just for fun afterward. We expect to have sufficient boats for all comers, but if you intend to sail please email Meredith Gilsleider at mgilsleider@lakenaomiclub.com to register your intent to sail.

From the ARC Spring will be here before you know it and when it arrives, everyone will want to enjoy the fresh air and work outside. If you are planning to build a new house, undertake any major landscaping project or make any type of structural changes to your property, it is important that you abide by the Deed Restrictions as well as the “Architectural Standards and Requirements” for the Lake Naomi – Timber Trails Community. These standards are intended to promote harmonious design, the protection of the environment and collective interests of owners of property in the Community. Included in the S&R’s is a requirement that all propane tanks be screened from sight by using either privacy lattice or landscaping that provides sufficient screening or both for maximum buffering. With the addition of the Code of Conduct to assist in preservation of our beautiful Community, leaving your tanks un-buffered is also a violation of the Code and can be subject to a fine. While fining is the last thing anyone wants to do, propane tanks detract from the beauty of your home and the Community. If you haven’t already done so, please be a good neighbor and screen your tank. Even less aesthetically pleasing is a bright blue tarp! Blue tarps are also not permitted in Lake Naomi – Timber Trails. Dark green and brown tarps blend so much better with our natural environment! Cramers Home Center, a short drive east on 940, usually has these in stock, along with both Lowe’s and Home Depot. Another item that has caused concern with the neighbors is spotlights. When installing them, remember to point them down. Most people are not fond of spot lights shining in their windows! Please put them on a motion sensor and turn them off when you are not here or won’t need them. If you have questions regarding any ARC Standard or Requirement or if you need help finding a contractor to screen your propane tanks, please do not hesitate to contact Architectural Coordinator Sharon Lee Heron at 570-646-9191, ext. 1512.

Lake Naomi Club Big on Recycling! Please keep an eye out for the enhanced recycling systems being placed at all Club amenities and functions. The recycling containers will be placed at Club buildings along with pools and beaches. They are labeled to segregate plastics, aluminum, paper and regular trash. The Club’s trash collection vendor utilizes a commingled recycling collection program whereby many types of recycling items can be placed in a single container and are then sorted respectively at the recycling plant. Recycling is good for the environment, human health and the economy. The recyclables that you place in your curbside bin or Club recycling container begin a ripple effect of benefits. To start with, recyclables have value. By turning waste into valuable raw materials, recycling creates jobs, builds more competitive manufacturing and adds significantly to the nation’s economy. Recycling also promotes the sustainable use of our natural resources, saves energy, reduces pollution and contributes to many other health and environmental benefits. Following are items that are currently being collected under the Club’s curbside recycling program: Plastic Containers: Recycle #1 - #7 plastics only (mostly beverage and detergent containers). Look for one of these numbers on the bottom of the container to see if it’s acceptable. Please rinse. Metal: Tin, aluminum cans, empty paint cans. Please rinse. Glass: Jars and bottles. Newspaper and Mixed Paper: Newspaper, magazines, mail (junk and personal), phone books, food boxes (remove plastic liner), computer paper, flyers, wrapping paper (no foil or plastic wrap), soda and beer cartons (no food soiledsoiled paper, Please!) REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE!

Lake Naomi Club Q & A When will we see the new Member’s Website? In our last announcement regarding the new Member’s website, we reported that it was in the final testing phase and will be launched the end of January. During the testing it was discovered that several of the features were not working as expected. The testing has been put on hold as we wait for the updates from Northstar Technologies. We apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience. We will keep you informed with future eblasts. What is the date for the Independence Day Picnic in 2017? The Independence Day Picnic in 2017 will be held on Tuesday, July 4th. Why does the Clubhouse request reservations for dinner in the main dining room? The popular misconception of why the Clubhouse asks for reservations is so staff can be scheduled accordingly. While this is partially true, the primary reason for reservations is to control the flow of the dining room business to guarantee that the service staff and kitchen staff run efficiently. The most popular eating time is between 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM and if every Member arrives during this time period the operations of the Clubhouse become back logged which results in delayed service to the Membership. The goal is to provide consistent platinum service to the Members and reservation helps the staff accomplish this. Walk-ins will always be welcomed but please try to make a reservation to ensure that you receive the Platinum Club Service that you deserve. Check out Amanda‛s Latte Art at the Mountaintop Lodge
