Gateway Task Force Update The Gateway Task Force continues to evaluate and discuss possible improvements to the Gateway Property, formally known as the Ice House. While no formal decisions have been made, the Engineering Study conducted on the property reveals the cost to renovate is more likely to outweigh the benefits the current structure can provide to the Members. The logical course of action is leaning towards dismantling of the existing structure. Management is working with consultants on a full environmental study for the wetland area, to be completed after the ice melts. This study will help the Task Force evaluate other possible options for the property. In addition, the Task Force is investigating the possibility of “Grandfathering” the existing building’s foundation and sign footprints so if they are removed, new structures could one day be put up in that same location. If the decision is to dismantle and preserve the land for future use, funds allocated in the initial membership vote should be adequate to cover this expense. The Task Force’s goal is to have a plan by the Annual Meeting for the Membership.

Stored Value Cards along with Membership ID As a convenience to Club Members and as a means of limiting the amount of cash handled at Club Facilities, the Club initiated LNC Stored Value Cards. Many Members have used the LNC Stored Value Card (SVC) and found it extremely easy to use. No more worrying about having to carry cash for pool, tennis, golf fees and the Community Center. Your Membership ID Badge also has Stored Value Card capabilities. This means you can put money on your Membership ID Badge so there is no need for a separate SVC. You can add money to your Membership ID Badge or purchase a Stored Value Card at the Administrative Office and the Community Center in any amount over $10.00. Extra dollars can be added to the SVC or Membership ID Badge throughout the season at the Administrative Office or the Community Center. These cards can then be utilized at any Club facility for payment of services and merchandise provided. They are also a great way to pay for purchases at the Cafes and Restaurant. Be sure to take full advantage of the Lake Naomi Club Stored Value Card.

New Lake Naomi Club Website The Lake Naomi Club has a just launched a new public website at www.lnc.org. Please take a few moments to check it out. The public website is using the www.lnc.org web address for a couple months in order to preserve the search engine rankings for www.LakeNaomiClub.com. The Club’s SEO Consultant advised us if there was an automatic redirect to the new site the Club’s SEO ranking would need to be totally rebuilt. Anyone going to www.LakeNaomiClub.com will see a banner telling them to “Click to View Our New Website”. The Members’ site will be updated in the Fall. It will have the new look with exciting new features. When the Club started with the picture id scanning system using Northstar this was the first step in using a totally integrated computer system for the entire Club. The Club has been using the Membership along with the Food and Beverage module for a couple years and this past year the accounting system has been added. The website is another module added to the system. When Members sign up for events their reservations will be made directly. If your email address changes you can update it in your profile and all departments will have your new email address. Additional features to look forward to include online reservations for the Clubhouse, tee times and court times. The Lake Naomi Club is always looking for new ways to better serve its Members.

LNC’s Schützenfest Bring your family and join the fun with LNC’s Schützenfest on Saturday, May 3rd. What is a Schützenfest? A Schützenfest (German "Marksmen's Festival") is a traditional festival or fair featuring a target shooting competition in the cultures of both Germany and Switzerland. At a Schützenfest, contestants compete based on their shooting abilities, for example by shooting at a wooden representation of an eagle. The winner of the competition becomes the 'Schützenkönig' ("King of Marksmen") until the next year's competition. (Wikipedia) Clubhouse Manager Peter Koryttko and Operations Manager Tim Brooks have created LNC’s version of a Schützenfest with a paintball target competition held on Club Beach. The qualification rounds will begin at 3 PM and the final shoot off at 5 PM. During this time both the Duster Bar and the Boat House Café will be open offering Happy Hour Specials and appetizers for everyone to enjoy. Live entertainment will be on the beach during this event to add to the festival atmosphere. Continue the Schützenfest at the LNCH with a German Buffet featuring Bratwurst with Sauerbraten and Peter’s fabulous Potato Pancake Station. The crowning of the King/Queen and the Prince/Princess will take place on the dance floor at 8 PM. The evening will be topped off with featured entertainment. There is no cost or sign-up necessary for the shooting competition. The Club will be providing paintball guns and paintballs. The Schutzenfest Buffet is $26++ per adult inclusive and $11++ for ages children 5-12. Children ages four and under are complimentary. Reservations are encouraged – please call the Clubhouse at 570-646-2866. Mark Luethi

2014 Membership We are often asked why it is so important for Members to have their Membership Identification Cards on their person while using the Club facilities. The easiest answer is that it allows the staff to ensure that only bona fide Members are using the facilities but the card also provides other functions as well. The Board of Governors, Board of Trustees, and Management use the information gathered from the “swiping in” at various amenities to help ensure that the Club is operating as efficiently as possible. It permits the Club to see how many Members are using facilities and at what times so our staffing and hours of operation can best accommodate the needs of the Members. All Members are reminded that 2014 Membership Identification Cards will be required to access facilities starting May 1st. Membership Cards will be needed to access the Timber Trails Golf Course beginning April 18th. Cards are included in the Membership Packets available at the Administrative Office to all paid Members beginning April 4th. Please help us maintain a Platinum Club experience by having your card available.

Teen Summer Volunteer Opportunities Are you a Teen Member looking to volunteer this summer at Lake Naomi Club? We have two great programs that you can participate in. Team Member in Training (T.M.I.T.) Program will return this year for the Members going into 9th grade in Fall 2014. This program is designed to give young Members the opportunity to learn the skills necessary to be considered for a position at Lake Naomi – Timber Trails in the future. Trainees will gain LNC experience by shadowing others and also actively participating in the task at hand. Participants of the T.M.I.T. program will be trained primarily in the Recreation Department, which includes Klub Day Camps and various special events and activities. There are also limited volunteer opportunities with Golf, Sailing, Aquatics and Tennis. One hour a week will be spent in a classroom like setting discussing topics such as leadership, safety, customer service and more. There is a $50 registration fee (once you receive your acceptance letter) for participants which covers the cost of instruction, materials, uniform and a group trip/event at the end of the summer. Teen Volunteer Program (T.V.P) is designed for those teen members going into 10th grade and above who want to volunteer to work at Lake Naomi Club during the summer months. This program is based on matching the teen’s availability and interests with the department(s) needs. It could be for one event or many hours throughout the summer. Those interested in either of these programs should fill out an application on the Club website listing the program they want to volunteer with as the position they are interested in. There are limited spots available in these programs so early application is highly encouraged. The application deadline is April 30th. For more information please call Recreation Manager Braden Meiter at (570) 646-8585.

Facility Access for Friends and Family If you loan your home to friends or relatives, or if you have guests at your home while you are present, the following is a review of how they can access the facilities. When you have guests at your home while you are present: You have the privilege of bringing guests to any facility for which you hold Membership. Your Leisure Service Guide lists specific information on guest limits and fees for each facility. Any individual may be your guest at the Community Center (20) times a year and all other facilities up to ten (10) times during one Membership (calendar) Year except property owners in LN TT who choose not to join the Club or who choose not to join the optional facilities. Grown children and grandchildren who only visit occasionally and don't have a Special Family Membership can also participate as your guests. Members are required to accompany and introduce their guests when they are making use of the Club Facilities. Individual guest badges are paid for and issued at each facility. When someone is utilizing your home while you are not here: If someone will be utilizing your home while you are not here, the only way these house guests can utilize the facilities is by acquiring a Temporary Membership for the time they are here (unless it is a son or daughter who has their own "Special Family Membership"). The Temporary Membership will cover two adults and any unmarried children up to and including age 23 and they will be able to enjoy the same Club facilities and programs subscribed to by the Homeowner/Club Member. The Family Membership Category is required in order to sponsor Temporary Members. You will need to upgrade your Membership to this category if you plan to utilize the Temporary Membership Program. Do not hesitate to contact the Club's Membership Department for more information on sponsoring Temporary Members, guest policies or for any other reason. They very much want to assist each Club Member in obtaining the maximum benefit from Club Membership.

With the Lake Naomi Club Tennis Center courts opening for weekend use in early May, we often get questions about how Members can utilize the courts during the times the Pro Shop is not open during the mid-week and late in the day on weekends. A number of the Lake Naomi Tennis Center courts will be made “available for walk on play” from May 3rd – June 20th. The available courts may be played as “walk on” all day (8:30 AM until dark) midweek and after 1:30 PM on weekends after the Pro Shop has closed. Members should refer to the posting on the Pro Shop door to find which courts are “available” and must record their usage, as well as their Guest’s, in the log on the podium next to the door. All court etiquette, dress code and Guest policies apply during times of “walk on play” and Members must carry their Membership ID badges while using the facilities. During these times the Pro Shop and additional staff services will not be available, with the exception of restrooms which will be available at all times the courts are open. Sweeping and lining equipment will be available for Members to self-maintain their courts.

The book club meets regularly on the second Monday of the month at 1:00 PM at the Community Center and is always open to new participants. Everyone is welcome – even if you haven’t read the book. The discussions of course talk about the book, writing style and if it was favorable to everyone’s tastes, but does not give the plot away. This is a great way to get introduced to a variety of books that you may never have looked at otherwise. If you have questions please call Vilma Zabaleta at 570-646-7259 or Kelly Swingle at the Community Center 570-646-8585.

Age deadline is based on your birthday as of September 30, 2014. The Jr Tourney Celebration will take place Sunday late afternoon after all the matches are complete where awards will be presented to all Tournament winners and finalists. Not Ready For Prime Time (NRPT) Sailboat Racing Do you sail but don’t feel quite ready or up to racing competitively? NRPT is designed for you! You don’t have to be a seasoned sailor to join in the fun. If you can tack into the wind and make your way around the set marks (a triangular course) then this is for you! These races are meant to be a learning experience as the Committee Boat Crew will help you with how and when you start and directions on how to get around the course. Skippers may also be offered pointers and instructions by the Safety Boat Operators. Junior and Adult sailors will be split into two separate fleets for scoring and will have separate race starts. NRPT sailing races are held on Saturdays for six weeks throughout the summer season beginning July 5th and finishing on August 16th. Races begin around 2:30 PM, just after the series races finish. These races are also conveniently scheduled just after the Saturday Adult Weekly Sailing Lessons. Rental sailboats are available for NRPT if arranged in advance with the Sailing Office. A NRPT flyer with more information is posted on the bulletin board outside the Sailing Office on the beach level of the Lake Naomi Clubhouse. You should also be aware… the NRPT pennant flies on the flagpole on any Saturday there is scheduled NRPT racing. There’s sailing opportunities for sailors of all abilities on Lake Naomi, so come out to join in the fun! ** Look for NEW & exciting social NRPT events this summer being planned by the Sailing Committee to encourage novice sailors to get involved through fun sailing opportunities.

Adult Sailing Classes The LNC Sailing Association would like to encourage Adult Members (17 years of age and older) to enroll in Adult Summer Sailing Instruction. No additional cost will be incurred for boat rental. All registrants will also be invited to attend the End of Season Sailing Reception held over Labor Day Weekend. Meg Whitney Memorial Fun Race The Lake Naomi Sailing Association is proud to announce The Meg Whitney Memorial Fun Race will be held for a third year, kicking off the NRPT (Not Ready for Prime Time) sailing season on July 5th at 2:30 PM. All Club Members, regardless of experience, are invited to participate in this race honoring the memory of Meg Whitney and the heritage of sailing at Lake Naomi. Meet other sailors, have fun and stay after the race for the awards presentation. You may sail in the race either by yourself or accompanied by one of Lake Naomi’s seasoned sailors. If you wish to participate and don’t have your own boat, the sailing office can arrange one for you. Registration for the race will take place through the sailing office at Club Beach starting on June 21st and will continue up until the morning of the races. Meg Whitney is remembered by her fellow sailors as a competitor who also had a lot of fun which is why this event was created to celebrate and spread the love of sailing. Don’t miss this great day at Club Beach!

Sailing Race Reminders The LNC Sailing Association requires all sailboats participating in any of the sailing races or regattas to adhere to these customary sailing practices: - Have a number posted on their sail. - Check in with the Race Committee prior to racing to register to sail. - Before the first race sail to the “Tiki” to confirm you registered by hailing your information to the Race Committee. (full name and boat number) - Inform the Race Committee if you’re leaving the racing before the final finish. These practices allow Race Committee to track and properly score racers. If you do not already have your sail numbered you MUST be assigned an available number. Numbers are available for purchase in the Sailing Office if needed. While you’re there, please do not hesitate to ask the Sailing Staff for directions on how to properly affix the numbers to your sail if you do not have experience in doing so. The Sailing Office is open from 10 AM – 6 PM on weekends beginning the Memorial Day Weekend and full time beginning Saturday, June 21st. 9

New Head Golf Professional With Winter almost over and warmer temperatures just around the corner, the opening of the golf course is only weeks away. We are tentatively scheduled to open on Friday, April 18th. We are very excited to welcome to the Lake Naomi Club Team the new Head Golf Professional, Tim Wagner. Tim was born and raised in Sarasota, Florida. He spent every waking moment he could as a child on the links at Lake Venice Golf Club and started seriously competing on his high school varsity team team. These experiences added to his love for the game and led him to pursue a career as a Golf Professional. He began his career with the Greater Sarasota Junior Golf Association and The Oaks Club in Osprey, Florida. Over the next 10 plus years went on to work in some of the most prestigious sections of the PGA, honing his skills as an Assistant Professional at prominent private clubs including South Fork Country Club in the Hamptons; Adios Golf Club in Delray Beach, Florida; Somers Pointe County Club in Westchester County, New York; and Applebrook Golf Club located outside of Philadelphia. Tim is a Class “A” Certified PGA Professional and has recently completed additional certification in Golf Operations through the PGA’s Certified Professional Program 2.0 which only 3% of the 27,000 PGA Professionals have ever achieved. Tim and his wife of just over a year, Callie, are relocating to the Poconos and are looking forward to being part of the Lake Naomi Club family as they start to build their own. Please join us in welcoming him to our community. You can meet him or talk to him at the Timber Trails Golf Center, 570-646-9060, or via email at golf@lakenaomiclub.com.

Ladies Golf League Despite what seems to those who spent the winter at Lake Naomi as an endless winter, with its frigid air and unending snow, the Ladies Golf Steering Committee met to plan the Summer pre-season and regular season ladies golf. As now scheduled, the ladies golf pre-season will kick off on Thursday, May 15th for a five week warm-up session. A variety of games will be played to help the lady golfers shake the winter cobwebs from their clubs. The regular season will begin on Thursday, June 19th and continue through July to the final session and awards luncheon on Thursday, August 21st. With the exception of the Cancer Awareness Tournament scheduled for July 17th and sessions cancelled for inclement weather, the regular season will run for nine sessions. Playing in the pre-season or the regular league is a great way to meet new friends and renew old friendships. Since much work is done organizing the team structure for the weekly golf it is imperative that all players arrive by 8:30 AM for a 9:00 AM tee off. We request that all players wishing to participate notify the Pro Shop by 5:00 PM on Tuesday. Please call the Golf Center at 570-646-9060 if you have any questions.

2014 World Indoor Sailing ailing C Championship hampionship This little-known invitational regatta was held on March 9, 2014 at the Logan Steele Community Center sponsored by RC Laser, Fleet #9. The normal winter RC Sailing venue, the indoor pool allows indoor racing all winter, and this annual invitational regatta, the apex of the season. Sailboat racing in an indoor pool has its challenges; like lack of wind, overcome by a bank of 11 powerful fans, and hard, unyielding sides and railing obstacles. Hence the number of RC Lasers on the line per start is limited to eight. When looking at the scores, remember that this is a four hour regatta with about three hours of actual sailing. Races are run back-to-back, each race of two and half laps takes about six minutes overall, including a one minute starting sequence. This year we had 22 races with one throw-out per five races. The top finishers were: Dave Brawner (34 points), Nick Mortgu (42 points), Jamey Betz (43 points), Dean Neely (43 points). Dean had three first place finishes compared to Jamey’s four. Also competing were Sue Neely, Ken Shaw, Bill Clausen, and John Whipple. For videos of two complete races, go to YouTube and search for RCLFleet9Guy.

Timber Trails Member Gate The Timber Trails Community Association uses a bar codee activated gate system to allow expedited entry into Timber Trails for Timber Trails Members. The TTCA also offers the benefit of this owner gate to Lake Naomi Club Members. As a Lake Naomi Club Member you can purchase a bar code to be affixed to your vehicle for $10. Bar code stickers must be applied to the car by a Ranger or Administrative personnel. Kindly note that for proper bar code sticker application, the temperature outside must be above 40 degrees and it cannot be precipitating in any way. These are the manufacturer’s requirements to ensure the bar code sticker will function properly. In order to obtain your bar code sticker the Timber Trails Board of Directors requires a copy of your STATE VEHICLE REGISTRATION. This is for your security as well as the security of the Timber Trails Community. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. If you currently have a bar code that is no longer working properly, please remove the sticker from your vehicle and visit the Administrative office for a replacement. Older bar code stickers that have been exposed to the sun and elements for long periods of time will wear out and malfunction. The TTCA will replace malfunctioning bar code stickers at no charge. If you have any questions regarding the Timber Trails Bar Code System, please contact Association Manager Wendi Freeman at wfreeman@lakenaomiclub.com.

The Temporary Membership Membershare Referral Program will reward Members with 25 Club Dollars for each week the new Temporary Member joins the Club. First, you will need to fill out the Referral Registration in the Online Office at Member’s section of www. LakeNaomiClub.com , or pick up a MemberShare Referral Card at the Administrative Office or at one of the participating Pocono Pines Real Estate agencies. This referral information must be received at the Administrative Office before your referral purchases property. How can I use the “Club Dollars”? The “Club Dollars” can be used in two different ways. They can be used towards your Membership dues or they can be put on a SVC and used at all Club amenities. Can I share the “Club Dollars”? You can opt to share all or a part of your “Club Dollars” with your referral family in order to make it easier for them to join the Club. Does it really work? In 2013, 35 new Members came from the MemberShare Referral Program and 41 new Temporary Members came from the Temporary Member Referral Program.
