Lake Jackson voters will cast ballots in a $18 million bond election on May 3, 2025 The three propositions address maintenance and repairs for basic city services.
The bond election seeks approvals for the following:
Additional funding for the police building expansion that voters approved in 2021 and other improvements to the police department
Renovations to the Fire Station 1
Concrete panel replacements on major city streets
Drainage projects to handle increased rainfall and improve ditch maintenance
The council reviewed the submissions and on Feb. 3, 2025 adopted the ordinance to call an $18 million bond election
VOTER REGISTRATION
The 2025 Bond Election is open to all Lake Jackson residents who are registered to vote. A person must register to vote at least 30 days before the election date. Register to vote here.

PROPOSITION A
POLICE DEPARTMENT
In 2021, voters approved $2.4 million for the expansion of the Lake Jackson Police Department The project has increased in cost due to inflation. Voters are being asked to approve a $3 million bond proposition that would provide funds for an evidence room expansion, roof replacement, chiller replacement and a generator

FIRE DEPARTMENT - STATION 1
Built in 2002, Fire Station 1 serves as the Main Fire Station for the Lake Jackson volunteer fire department and emergency management services. Rehabilitation needs to be completed on the truck bay exhaust system, lighting, underground storm system, metal roof and other roof repairs, and overhead doors

STREET PANEL REPLACEMENTS
In 2023, an arterial pavement condition assessment and pavement optimization analysis were conducted to assess Lake Jackson’s major thoroughfares Upon completion, the thoroughfares were ranked and identified for improvements through strategic pavement replacement. The City has a goal to bring all roads surveyed in 2023 with a Pavement Condition Index (PCI) of less than 70 up to 70. If approved, concrete panels would be replaced throughout the city according to the analysis rankings.Although a five-year inflation adjusted cost has been calculated, the goal for the City of Lake Jackson would be to complete the street panel replacements within three years after voter approval

DRAINAGE
Outfall enlargements and slope paving aims to strengthen the city's drainage infrastructure and make the community more storm resilient. If approved, drainage pipes would be enlarged and slope paving would be done to enhance flood prevention and maintenance throughout the city.

TAX IMPACT

The tax rate impact the issuance of these bonds will have on a residential homestead is estimated by making certain assumptions.
Those assumptions are:
