a life in perfect balance
ZERO CARBON HOMES SANDFIELD PARK, PIPERS LANE, HESWALL
The unique Sandfield Park development is two familysized zero carbon concept homes situated on the tranquil Dee Estuary in Heswall, Wirral. They are the first of their kind for sale in the area.
Built using ultra-low-energy design principles, these large, flexible five-bedroom homes will be among the most energy efficient in the borough. By combining fundamental architectural and eco design principles, the homes offer uncompromising thermal performance and minimised CO2 emissions over their lifetime, as well as a range of thoughtful design features that reflect and support the needs of modern living.
Both properties stand as compelling examples of what is possible with progressive, ultra-low-energy design. Every feature within the homes has been carefully planned to play a critical role in creating balanced living spaces that promote happy and environmentally friendly lifestyles.

Solar photovoltaic arrays generate their own electricity, driving down energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
An abundance of space and natural light was carefully designed into the properties. Large open plan areas and generous window and roof window specifications all work together to enhance homeowner wellbeing and improve interior aesthetics.
Both homes include significant amounts of insulation and a largely airtight fabric to minimise heat and air leakage, providing extremely high levels of thermal comfort throughout the year.
The external walls are constructed using thin joint masonry and lightweight aerated concrete blocks. The external walls crucially do not have any cavities, which allows 200mm of insulation to be positioned externally. The aerated concrete blocks create a consistent level of air tightness and work to enhance the effects of the insulation, improving thermal performance throughout the building.
In a world that takes so much, we aim for a more balanced approach, giving to and taking from nature to create unique, comfortable, and sustainable places to live.
The pitched roof is finished in Cedral Thrutone fibre cement tiles, a low maintenance recyclable building material with an A+ Green guide rating and a low carbon footprint of 16 CO2e/m2.
The ground floor slab is a reinforced concrete raft with 300mm of insulation which isolates it from the ground, eliminating cold bridges.
The homes will be powered exclusively by electricity, breaking free from a reliance on mains gas supply.
The windows are extremely efficient quadruple glazed units which are Passivhaus compliant. They have laminate glazing which provides U-Values as low as 0.5 W/m²K and a Windows Energy Rating as high as A+40. Additionally, they are PAS24:2016 and Secure By Design accredited.
The first floor is constructed from a precast concrete beam and block system that provides solidity to the house. It acts as passive energy store for heat that gradually releases warmth as the building cools during the night.
Heating and ventilation are provided by a mechanical ventilation heat recovery system (MVHR). It works by recovering residual heat from exhaust gases which are then used to preheat the fresh air introduced into the house. The MVHR system also has a heat pump element that can heat the homes entirely by circulating warm air via discrete ventilation ducts. It’s easy to run and maintain and is located within the dedicated plant room.

This document is a Predicted Energy Assessment for properties marketed when they are incomplete. This might not represent the final energy rating of the property on completion. Once the property is completed, this rating will be updated and an official Energy Performance Certificate will be created for the property.

Heswall balances beauty, community, and vibrancy.
Located on the Western side of the Wirral, Heswall is rich in variety and history and home to an impressive range of natural beauty. It was once a small fishing and farming village but has since transformed into a town buzzing with activity and community.
Surrounded by large spans of unspoilt open country and elevated to look out across the Dee estuary, Heswall boasts an enviable location that contains multiple areas of special scientific interest and local nature reserves.
The town itself has the character of a traditional English Village and has become known as a hot spot for shoppers, diners, and casual evening drinkers, hosting everything from a church and a village hall to a diverse selection of pubs, bars, shops, and restaurants.
Heswall champions diversity, activity and communal living. With a wealth of independent producers, crafters, and enterprises, as well as prestigious sporting facilities that cover everything from sailing and swimming to golf, rugby, and more, the area offers the local community a rich and varied way of life.

We are not driven by economics as a first principle. Instead, our passions compel us to create beautiful homes that have impressive environmental credentials.
Climate change is the most pressing emergency of our generation, and we think it is vital that our building stock responds to this crisis. Our new build projects are designed using ultra-low-energy principles and built using a fabric-first approach to thermal performance and embodied energy usage.
Our work is inspired by natural elements that all people respond to –– natural light, texture and colour, natural materials, and the relationship between space and light.
We embrace open spaces and seek to capture outside views to establish a genuine connection to nature without compromising on privacy. We believe that attention to detail, the creative use of materials, and space and light are crucial to the success of every project.
We believe architecture extends beyond image making. It’s our goal to create happier, more sustainable places to live by adhering to uncompromising design principles.
