NOUÉ Experience a real Jersey Christmas in St Helier with traditional markets, dazzling parades and many more seasonal delights. Our event-packed mid-winter celebration derives its name from the local Jersey Norman-French language and translates as ‘The Christmas Festival’.

La Fête dé Noué delivers a variety of heart-warming, festive and family celebrations, and this year promises to be the best yet. Events and activities on offer include the Christmas Lights Switch On, Genuine Jersey Spirit of Christmas Market, the Norman-French Market, Ice Skate Jersey, St Helier Angels and much more!

MARKETS

Genuine Jersey Spirit of Christmas Market 7th - 10th & 14th - 17th December Royal Square Free Entry

Come and experience the true ’Spirit of Christmas’ in the Royal Square. With the Genuine Jersey Spirit of Christmas Market bringing the centre of town to life over 8 days of festive celebration. Twenty local traders wil be selling seasonal food, locally produced art and craft items at each of the four day events. Shoppers can browse candlelit stalls, laden with homemade Jersey crafts.

Enjoy mulled cider and sausages, cupcakes, hot chocolate and other delicious fare as you soak up the festive atmosphere in the beautifully lit Royal Square in the heart of St Helier. The perfect place to find a unique gift at Christmas. www.genuinejersey.com

The visiting Norman-French market offers traditional festive treats from homemade crêpes and biscuits to saucisson and Normandy Cider.

PARADES

Christmas Lights Switch On Parade

6pm - 7pm | 23rd November Millennium Town Park, West’s Centre, Royal Square & Weighbridge Place Free Event Join us for a magical evening of entertainment and festive activities in St Helier. Come to see Santa in his sleigh, accompanied by Christmas characters, carol singers, dancers and brass bands, as they travel from Millennium Town Park, through the town centre, switching on the lights as they go. The Parade will pause in the Royal Square for the official Christmas Lights Switch On and fireworks display before continuing to the Weighbridge. The Parade will leave Millennium Town Park at 6pm.

The Royal Square Switch On will take place at approximately 6.40pm. We recommend arriving early as the Royal Square has limited capacity. facebook.com/sthelierevents

The Jersey Battle of Flowers Christmas Parade

From 4.45pm | 10th December View Points: Maritime House, Aquasplash, the Overpass, Liberty Wharf, Pomme D’or, Liberation Square, the Esplanade Free Event A delightful Christmas spectacle with many floats forming a colourful procession through the streets of St Helier. The floats are festooned in twinkling lights, and include people and children dancing or walking in costume. www.battleofflowers.com

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING

St Helier’s shopping centre has an excellent mix of well-known high street stores, independent local boutiques and department stores. In the run up to Christmas a large number of retailers will be open until 9pm on Thursdays and 10am to 5pm on Sundays.

The ‘Sunday Shopping Experience’ is a rare occurrence in Jersey where there is limited trading permitted on a Sunday.

ANGELS

You can find the St Helier Angels on Don Street every Saturday and Sunday in the run up to Christmas. From the 25th November to the 17th December, 12pm - 4pm. The group of friendly volunteers are here to add to the festive atmosphere in St Helier. The Angels will be waiting to assist shoppers, visitors and groups by providing information on Christmas activities and events and they will even carry your shopping to your car. This evening will see St Helier accessible to everyone. With plenty of retailers open to 8pm for Christmas shopping, there will be street food and carol singing and a fun, festive atmosphere in the town centre.

Soup Kitchen

From 10.30am | 5th December Royal Square £3 Donation The Shelter Trust for the Homeless in Jersey will be holding its annual fund raising Soup Kitchen, with around 40 different soups on offer provided by the Island’s top restaurants, hotels and local chefs. With seasonal music and a festive atmosphere, the event continues until the soup runs out. www.shelter.org.je
