Need to practice your dog paddle? Now’s your chance! Fitness with Fido and SUP St. Louis are co-hosting PADDLEBOARD WITH YOUR DOG on Valley Park’s Simpson Lake. Get a quick lesson on how to properly paddle with your pup on your board, and then enjoy the rest of the time to relax and swim. Get ready for back-to-back … to back (!) movie nights with Cinema St. Louis as it rolls 106 locally made films for the 18th annual WHITAKER ST. LOUIS FILMMAKERS SHOWCASE. Left Bank Books and Maryville Talks Books host historian RACHEL DEVLIN as she presents her new book, A Girl Stands at the Door, a story of how women fought for equality in schools in the middle part of the 20th century, especially after Brown v. Board of Education. “Devlin tells the remarkable stories of these desegregation pioneers, among them Lucile Bluford, who fought to desegregate the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism,” states the website of the storied bookstore in St. Louis’ Central West End neighborhood. Enjoy local food and live entertainment for even longer than usual during the extended summer hours for FOOD TRUCKS AT THE FARM at Grant’s Farm (in the municipality of Grantwood Village, by the way). Every Friday features a different truck and a new band playing. Beyond noshing at the food truck, attendees can enjoy their favorite attractions at the area landmark, such as goat feedings, carousel rides and camel rides.
