DID YOU KNOW? PARKS CLEAN THE AIR Trees in urban parks remove toxins from the air, such as carbon monoxide, that can pose serious health risks to people. Urban trees in the U.S. remove 711,000 TONS of air pollution annually, at a value of $3.8 BILLION not only saving money but also improving public health. (Source: Nowak, David J., Crane, Daniel E., Stevens, Jack C. “Air pollution removal by urban trees and shrubs in the United States.” U.S. Forest Service. 2006)

There are countless trees in the 1,180 acres of Lacey Parks property. Many of the park properties are passive use, reserve parks, and/or heavily wooded such as: · Greg J. Cuoio Community Park/Palm Creek Headwaters/Pleasant Glade Park · Lake Lois Habitat Reserve · McAllister Community Park · Mullen Road Habitat Reserve · Wanchers Community Park · Wonderwood Park

YOU ARE INVITED! Greg Cuoio Park & Greenways Master Plan virtual open house #3 Wednesday, November 10 at 6 p.m.

This event, in addition to other input, will help determine what improvements and park amenities the Master Plan should include. The first virtual open house gave the community an opportunity to provide input on what types of activities, trails, and programs they would like to see included in the Master Plan. The second virtual open house focused on park concept alternatives and introduced a variety of program elements in each alternative. Participants provided feedback on the activities that would fit best with the park’s natural setting and the location of those activities in relation to adjacent neighborhoods. The third virtual open house will focus on the preferred master plan and phased implementation. The presentation will provide an overview of the proposed improvements based on the community’s feedback and seeks input on setting priorities for future implementation. Find Out More To get more details, including information from the first two virtual open houses, frequently asked questions, and a link to register for the open house, visit ci.lacey.wa.us/GCPGMP.
