SUPERHEROES UNITE! Lacey Parks, Culture & Recreation invite you to come join this FREE community family event! Held at the beautiful Huntamer Park in Lacey, the day includes games, activities, arts & crafts, food, entertainment and more! Sign up to host a booth or attend with your family! We encourage all groups and attendees to use the 'Superheroes' theme in their booth decorations or outfits - but it is not mandatory!

TAKE HOME COOKIE KITS ARE BACK! We have a fun fall line up for our popular Take-Home Cookie Kit Classes! Follow along with the video tutorial or get creative and decorate however your heart desires! Provided by May's Sugar Stop these cookie kits are sure to be a hit with your family! *Pre-registration is required and pick up will be at Lacey City Hall.

MUSEUM NEWS LACEY MUSEUM EXPLORE KIT This August get active and explore Lacey’s Parks! Register to purchase a Lacey Museum Explore Kit and begin your adventure to visit as many local parks as you can. With your kit, draw park scenery, journal your favorite finds, or note information found on historic markers. If you come across crawly critters like ladybugs or ants, use your magnifying glass to get a zoomed-in look. Find a leaf or flower and use them to create your own sun art! And, remember to stay hydrated with your Lacey Museum water bottle. History Talks! Captain Cook Rediscovered Wednesday, September 8, 6:30 p.m. Lacey City Hall, Council Chambers and Online Via Zoom Using illustrations that appear in his recent book, Captain Cook Rediscovered: Voyaging to the Icy Latitudes , Dave Nicandri will present a new side to the famous navigator. Rather than the tropical explorer we are accustomed to, Dave will introduce us to an entirely new figure: James Cook as the pioneering polar ice scientist. David Nicandri is the former executive director of the Washington State Historical Society and is an expert in the history of the Pacific Northwest’s exploration phase. DID YOU KNOW? PARKS SUPPORT MENTAL HEALTH THROUGH PHYSICAL ACTIVITY Mental illness affects over 43 million adults in the U.S. according to the National Institute of Mental Health. People with access to parks are more likely to exercise. Exercise reduces anxiety and depression and can help alleviate symptoms of a variety of mental health conditions, including dementia and Alzheimer’s. There are 4 trails in Lacey with over 7 miles to bike, walk, jog or run on. Check out these beautiful trails: · Karen Fraser Woodland Trail · I-5 Bikeway Trail · William Ives Trail · Chehalis-Western Trail · Trails are also located within parks at Lake Lois Habitat Reserve, Mullen Road Habitat Reserve, Wonderwood Park, Wanschers Community Park, and Woodland Creek Community Park.
