TEACHER GUIDE FOR IMPLEMENTATION

THE PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to provide teachers with a guide for how to implement the South Dakota Literacy Framework’s recommendations. The South Dakota Literacy Framework is aligned with the science of reading which is a comprehensive approach to literacy instruction and development based on decades of research, and fosters the development of the five key reading skills (phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension) and writing. A complete look at all of the recommendations is included in the District Guide for Implementation. For more explanation/research on each step, refer to the South Dakota Literacy Framework.
