Comprehending, analyzing, internalizing, our new situation in the immediate environment, how covid has transformed our spatialities.
The city has been set aside for a few months. Nevertheless, globalization keeps broadening frontiers through our screens, our internal worlds are confined inside the cages we built. We consume more than we can spend, not just economically but energetically, physically. Culture overfloods social media, solidarity is sold by weight and we keep on joining the daily applause which takes place at 8 pm.
A police car patrols our neighborhoods screaming “stay home” and our neighbours have become the new district guards to comply with the standard.
New agents, new roles, new relationships, from the 10m2 of our rooms to yours.

squatting the contemporary metropolis
Sociopolitical and spatial analysis of the National Fight for Housing movement in São Paulo’s historical center with the collaboration of ENSAPLV, FAUUSP, UCV and ETSAM
Since the 2000s, in São Paulo, a huge amount of homeless people has joined in order to reclaim the empty and abandoned buildings of the city as new opportunities to inhabit.
In a capitalistic society, wealth distribution generates all kinds of inequalities. The result of it is a perverse distribution of the land and a social pyramid whose foundations are based in the lowest layers of society, converting social and spatial inequality into a structural problem.
This research is composed of 4 documents with different perspectives about the same fact: the urban squatting of the historical city center of São Paulo.
Vallekas with Lucía Sáenz
The project statement proposed the construction of a building hosting 142 apartments.
However, the neighborhood has one of the highest percentages of empty dwellings and betting houses per inhabitant in Madrid. The project borns as a political claim against the wrong management of the local resources and the capitalist’s power abuse laid on the humblest districts.
142 empty dwellings are identified in the plot surroundings to avoid the mandatory task. Ironically a vertical casino with 100% occupation of the surface is plotted to spotlight speculative strategies, to outline the laws’ lack to show how necessary is to counter and eliminate betting sites in the lowest districts of Madrid.

The honey productive process is analyzed since the bee takes the flower’s pollen until it lands on our tables as a manufactured product.
All the spaces linked with the aforementioned nectar are studied in order to produce an optimized product, aimed to to propose an architectural optimization of these processes, avoiding any danger the bees could encounter such as the recent outburst of the Asiatic wasp in Europe and the pesticides.

bestiary with Luis Bellevue and Hannah Olmedilla
Bestiary is born through an analysis of daily actions within space. It highlights the importance of the place where we keep the objects, and how our actions in space, interacting with them, help to determine the function.

As a final project for Especulaciones, a first year subject, in the ETSAM, we decided to squat one university plot with just one object: the can
The goal was to create a visual and auditive impact to generate a subjective perception of the installation by any spectator.
