Federal Reserve Chairman Bernanke says Occupy Wall Street misunderstands Fed CNN November 3, 2011 America’s top central banker “sympathizes” with the Occupy Wall Street protesters and thinks many of their frustrations with the sluggish economy are “understandable.”

But there’s one complaint Ben Bernanke does take issue with: the backlash against the Federal Reserve.

“I think that the concerns about the Fed are based on misconceptions,” he said at his news conference Wednesday.

The Occupy Wall Street protests, which started in New York in September and have since spread around the world, are known for their ever-evolving and diverse list of grievances.

Among them are the common themes of distaste for the banking system and frustration with government.

“He’s playing it brilliantly, ride that Republican wagon all the way until they boot him off, which you know they will. And then as soon as they boot him off it….then he should immediately jump to the Libertarian Party who have ballot access in virtually every state,” said Ventura, adding that Paul would still attract numbers big enough to mandate his inclusion in the debates.

“If they don’t include him in the debates, we should start rioting in the streets,” Ventura remarked.

The question of whether or not Ron Paul will seek the Libertarian nomination if he fails to win the Republican primaries has been a hot topic of recent political debate.

Libertarian Party leaders have responded enthusiastically to the idea of Paul running as a third party candidate under their banner. “Absolutely, that would be fabulous,” Jim Lesczynski, media relations director for the Manhattan Libertarian Party, recently told ABC News.

Paul himself has been more guarded about the idea, largely dismissing the prospect of switching parties, but that’s to be expected so long as he remains in a strong position in the Republican race.

Asked what his response would be if Congressman Paul approached him to be Vice-President, Ventura said he would give it “serious consideration”.

“If it were to come to pass next spring or next summer when I get back from Mexico, if the iron’s hot….I guess I’ll go to Mexico and think about it this winter and by the time I get back if a decision has to be made that’ll be the time to make it,” said Ventura.

The former Goveror described himself as the best insurance policy Ron Paul could possibly have if he were to be picked as Paul’s potential VP, “Because nobody’s going to assassinate him and let me be in charge,” said Ventura.

Asked if he personally would consider becoming the Libertarian presidential candidate, Ventura said the ball would be in the Libertarian Party’s court because they would need to approach him first.
