“Should I write this in English?” “You mean there are also other international students than just exchange students here at our school?!”

That is a comment we heard a lot while giving the finishing touches

to our magazine. Not many people realize that there are many international students at our school who are studying their whole degree

here. These are students that don’t participate in associations or student unions. These are students that have never met their tutors.

This problem reached my attention when an international student

from our school, Elom Damalie, contacted me this fall. He has been

fighting for international students for instance in the student union.

To get his voice heard he wanted to discuss these problems with us. The interview of Elom in this magazine opened my eyes. Hopefully it opens yours’ too. Read more from page 17.

Besides Elom’s interview this issue has a couple of features in

English. It is not a solution to the problem international students are

facing here at TSE, but it is a good start. For example, Committee for International Affairs wrote about the challenge they got from Kulttis.

It is likely that you’ll find features in English from our pages in the future as well.

This issue is packed with other interesting stories too. Read about

a hiking trip to Norway or about Topi Manner, a 42-year-old alumnus

of TSE who is currently working as the Head of Banking in Nordea. Or how about our take on the best courses at our school?

So here goes – let’s English! I challenge you all to use your aweso-

me language skills, meet up with new people and make international friends from all over the world – it’ll be worth it.
