FROM THE CHAIR

Hello and welcome! You are now officially the bunny of 2025 - the new TuKY member!

The terms "bunny" and "TuKY" may still sound strange at this stage - but don't worry, they will become familiar as the autumn progresses. The bunny autumn marks the start of one of the coolest periods of your life - studying at one of the best business schools in Finland!

Turun KY is our own student organisation and our mission is to make sure that your time as a student is unique and memorable. Every year, Turun KY accompanies up to 300 students through an unforgettable autumn and introduces them to the long traditions of Turun KY. At the same time, it opens the door to the secrets of student life in Turku. As a TuKY rabbit myself, I look back with nostalgia on my own bunny autumn, and I can't wait for you to experience all that TuKY has to offer.

Autumn is a time of change, especially for bunnies. You may be moving to a new city, your own apartment or at the start of a more independent life.

At the same time, the start of the

semester opens doors to a whole range of opportunities. University life brings new friendships, unforgettable experiences and, of course, lots of learning about yourself and the world around you. Everyone is warmly welcomed by the community of Turun KY. We care about every TuKY member and everyone is allowed to be themselves. Remember to appreciate this and support the development of this culture. This is not something to be taken for granted!

Turku School of Economics and TuKY offers everyone a place where they can develop themselves and find their own direction, whether you are a recent graduate, a student who has spent a few gap years, or someone who is already established in the working world.

At the Turku School of Economics, student life is much more than just studying. At Turun KY you can participate, learn and fail in a supportive environment. Whether you want to experience culture, play sports, go on excursions around the world or participate in one of Finland's biggest student events - the winter festival Pikkulaskiainen - our community has something for everyone!

Turun KY is run by around 200 enthusiastic participants every year - and the best thing is that everyone has the opportunity to get involved in this unique and rewarding activity. Our association offers an opportunity to gain working life skills early on in your studies, but the greatest rewards are the unforgettable experiences and friends you make. I encourage everyone to get involved in activities that interest them. By doing so, you will be participating in making our community even better.

On behalf of the entire Turun KY - a warm welcome to our blue-gold coloured community. The best time of your life is just around the corner.

Welcome aboard!

The Chair Ossi Ryynänen puheenjohtaja@tuky.fi

FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Hello, new bunny! Congratulations on your amazing school placement. You've done excellent work and should be proud of yourself. This is the beginning of unforgettable years as a student at the Turku School of Economics!

I hopped into these same doors three years ago as a little bunny myself, and back then, I couldn't have imagined all that the coming years would bring. Here at TSE, alongside earning credits, I've found lifelong friends, unforgettable experiences, and valuable lessons for life. I've found my place here, and hopefully, you can soon say the same!

A new place at university means not just the start of studies but the beginning of a vibrant student life. Ahead of you lies a period many graduates would love to leap into. Here at Turku School of Economics, our student life is overseen by our own community, Turun KY. Our mission is to ensure a high-quality student experience through a warm community, comprehensive representation, and top-notch collaboration. Turun kauppatieteiden ylioppilaat ry was established to carry on the traditions begun in the 1950s by the now-defunct Turku School of Economics’ student union.

Turun KY enables its members to engage in a variety of leisure activities! The purpose of this bunny guide is to introduce you to all the cool events and activities offered by TuKY. From cultural experiences to company visits, from running clubs to academic sitz parties, there's something here for everyone! The pages of the magazine showcase TuKY’s various operators, such as committees, subject associations, clubs, expert institutions, and projects! You can join any of these by participating in events or even becoming an active member yourself. I highly recommend it. So, boldly join activities that interest you!

As a member of TuKY, you'll enjoy all the services, events, and benefits the association offers. As a member, you're also automatically a member of the Finnish Business School Graduates. Remember, only members of the organisation are entitled to get their hands on every student's dearest outfit, Turun KY’s dark blue overalls.

Turun KY’s office is located right in the heart of the business

school. The office serves as the workplace for TuKY’s staff and board members. Additionally, the executive director and board members are available twice a week in TuKY’s lounge, Wanha Narikka. You're welcome to Narikka for coffee, to discuss anything on your mind, or just to hang out. So, ask your tutor to show you where these spaces are!

Throughout the autumn, you'll receive a wealth of information about studying and student life, and at times, it might feel like some of the info is flying over even a bunny's long ears. So, don't hesitate to contact me or anyone else on the board, whether at school, during events, or via email; we promise to help you to the best of our abilities. It's also worth going through the rest of this magazine and checking out Turun KY’s website (www.tuky.fi). They'll surely help you get into the mood and prepare you for the end of August! Once again, warm congratulations on getting in, and welcome to TSE and TuKY. Make the most of these exciting first steps in university life! See you in the fall!

WHAT IS TURUN KY?

The Association of Economics Students in Turku is the association for economics students studying in the Turku School of Economics. The goal of the association is to act as a bond between economics students in TSE, promote their interests and offer unforgettable and colourful experiences in the lives of students. The Association of Economics Students in Turku was formed to continue the activities and traditions of the Student Board of the Turku School of Economics after the merge of TSE and the University of Turku. TuKY has continued to be one of the largest and the most active of all student organizations, even after the merge.

TuKY is a registered organization and the highest power in the organization is used by its members in meetings, which are held both in the spring and fall and whenever the situation calls for it. The fall general meeting of the association is used to select a board for The Student Association of Economics Students in Turku, which is reponsible for the activities of the association. Assisting the board are also paid personnel, such as the Executive Director, the head of finance, the head of marketing and sales, as well as numerous other operators.

hat pin first saw use in 1966. Students of the Turku School of Economics still use these same symbols, which differ greatly from the symbols of the rest of the university.

The Association of Economics Students in Turku, also known as TuKY, was born in 1950 when a group of students from the recently founded Turku School of Economics gathered together to discuss forming a student board. As a result of this meeting a board of students was formed on October 12th, 1950. The insignia of both the former student board and the current association is a com- bination of the snakestaff of Mercury, the god of commerce, and the gothic letter A that is also present on the insignia of the city of Turku. TuKY got its own flag in 1953 and our own

In the late 1950's the characteristic term "bunny", which refers to a first-year student in Turku School of Economics, was taken into use. In the fall of 1953 the student board received a 30 m2 space from the basement of the schoolhouse at Aurakatu. Due to its location and rather uninviting appearance, this space was named the Pit (Monttu). Monttu received a new space from Rehtorinpellonkatu when TSE moved to its current accomodations in 1959. Monttu is one of the oldest night clubs in Finland and it has seen continous bar use since the 50's. After a couple decades of fundraising, the student board bought its very own house from Parkinkatu 6. The original Parkki, being in very bad shape, was torn down in the early 2000's and the new, current Parkki was built.

The Turku School of Economics went through a couple of discussions about merging with University of Turku at the end of the last millenium. The final merge happened at the turn of the year in 2010, when the stu- dent boards of Turku School of Economics and the University of Turku merged, creating the new student board of the University of Turku. TuKY continued existing after this merge as an association under the name of The Associa- tion of Economics Students in Turku, continuing to focus on the wellbeing of its members as well as promoting the interests of said members. What sets us apart from other student associations are our long traditions as a student board as well as our communal spirit that has formed through decades of activity.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE OPERATIONS

The board of Turun KY coordinates the operations of TuKY so that you can focus on enjoying your time here, both in and outside of your studies. The board is chosen for a calendar year at a time to represent all of our members and answer for our organization'sdaily operations. Feel free to contact them if there is anything you want to ask!

In addition to our board, is run by the following key personnel: Minttu Agarth (Executive Director), Joni Talvinen (Sales Manager), Ville Väänänen (Director of Finance), Olivia Virtamo (Bar Manager) and Leevi Vesanen (Chair of the Financial Committee), as well over 200 people across our committees, clubs, expert institutions and projects every year.

The board of Turun KY:

Bottom row, from the left: Helmi Kärjä (Head of Communications), Emma Torniainen (Head of Extracurricular Activities), Ossi Ryynänen (Chair of the Board), Saara Lohikari (Head of NESU-TuKY), Matlena Karvonen (Head of Sports).

Our properties

Turun KY’s very own clubhouse and home, Parkki, is located just a few hundred meters from the Turku School of Economics, at Parkinkatu 6.

Parkki is where you’ll experience the most unforgettable and memorable events of your student life, as it hosts the majority of TuKY’s event offerings—from sitz to raves and various sauna parties. Downstairs, Parkki features an event space with a dance floor and karaoke equipment, while the upstairs houses a lounge area, sauna, and meeting room. In addition, the attic of Parkki hides the building’s most mysterious corner: the legendary Narnia, where only the Head of Premises is allowed to enter.

Every committee, expert institution and club under Turun KY has free and unlimited access to Parkki, enabling a wide variety of events to be organized. Parkki can also be rented out to external parties, but its primary purpose is to serve us, the members of Turun KY..

Parkki has been under the ownership of Turun KY for over 40 years. In 1984, the Student Union of the Turku School of Economics at the time purchased a wooden house located at Parkinkatu 6. Over the years, the wild festivities left their mark on the building, and it was eventually decided to be demolished. Nearly 20 years ago, in 2006, a new and stately Parkki was built in its place—one with no equal elsewhere in Finland.

This most valuable asset of the association is safeguarded by the diligent Parkki team. The team monitors cleanliness, trains users, and maintains and develops the functionality of the facilities. The leader of the Parkki Team—and the Lord of Narnia—is Turun KY’s Head of Premises, Teijo Seikkula.

Alongside Parkki, the other heart of Turun KY beats in Monttu, our very own student restaurant where things happen all year round. During the day, Monttu serves as a lunch restaurant, but in the evening the space transforms into a stage for events. It hosts the biggest parties of the year, the legendary Monttu parties.

Monttu is more than just a bar. It is a meeting place where you get to know new friends and network with company representatives at After Works. Behind the bar, Turun KY’s Bar Manager Olivia Virtamo and her bar team make sure that the atmosphere is always on point.

Monttu offers the perfect setting for both lively parties and relaxed hangouts at student-friendly prices.

So a warm welcome to Monttu – We’ve got the atmosphere, and we’ve got the lights.

PS. Be prepared to experience the legendary Parkkihiki.

TUKY IS FOR YOU

You made it!

All the effort you have made has paid off and you can pad yourself on the back. I want to congratulate you and welcome you to Turku KY’s community.

Accepting a place in a study program might cause a lot of different feelings. A new school and for many a new phase in life is a big chance and naturally you might feel a little anxious. I remember being extremely happy but also nervous and worried even about day-to-day challenges like whether I will be able to locate all the classes and find people to lunch with.

I remember that early before orientation I got a phone call from my tutors. All my worries were swept away as they went through everything I needed to know before starting my studies and we also met with my bunny group before the orientation week. During the first day of school my nerves calmed down a bit when I saw the few already familiar faces. Quickly I noticed that I didn’t need to know anything as I had my tutors for support and advice. The events during orientation week gave me a good insight into everything that Turku KY can offer me, and I was positively surprised as I found several clubs that interested me.

I would like to offer you one word of advice for the orientation week: rest. During the orientation you will have a packed schedule

with a lot of new information, and you will come across a lot of new faces, so save up some energy for that. The orientation week is a once in a lifetime opportunity that you should enjoy as you will get into a whole new world of Finnish student culture. However, you don’t need to worry because at Turku KY we have motivated tutors eagerly waiting for you. You can ask your tutor anything that you might have on your mind even before and after orientation.

The autumn will be full of new acquaintances, experiences and possibilities and I encourage you to take full benefit from all of it. Be courageous and participate in all activities that interest you and ask your tutors and the clubs for more information on activities. I’m eager to meet you and hope that we can offer you an orientation that is at least as good as the one I had.

Have a relaxing rest of the summer and see you in the fall!

IS EVERYBODY'S RIGHT

Terve Mieli (eng. Healhty Mind) is Turku KY’s project that started in 2019. Its goal is to create an open culture for sharing, start conversations on themes regarding mental health, and to offer information on these themes. On top of all that, the project also offers information on several easily accessible services, for example, support students that study at TSE.

WHY WAS THE TERVE MIELI PROJECT CREATED?

University might be seen as a performance orientated and competitive environment. Many students have problems coping with the workload, suffering from insomnia, loneliness, or anxiety, but they are covering or downplaying their issues. To prevent mental health issues, it is important to bring up and discuss difficult topics openly. It is important that all our students know the limits of their endurance and that they are not afraid to seek support.

WHERE CAN I GET HELP?

A good place to start to look for helpful resources is Turku KY’s website (www.tuky.fi/en). There is a Terve Mieli -section where you can find different resources. The Who to contact? - questionnaire can guide you to the right resource and the links to resources are offered. Terve Mieli project also has an Instagram account @tervemieli_tuky where you can find more information on different resources. You should consider following the account as current news of the project and information about Terve Mieli -events is shared there. The yearly Terve Mieli fair is also a great opportunity to get more information on resources that are available for students.

On the Turku KY’s website you can also find information on support students. Support students offer accessible and confidential conversational help, and they can help you find the right resources. You can go grab lunch or participate in an event with a support student. You can either contact a support student directly or through a form on the website.

If you are interested in an opinion from someone outside TSE and the university, you should look into the TSE-Mentor program. Mentors have graduated from TSE, and they can offer conversational help and, for example, advice for career planning. They can offer support in educational topics, career and day-to-day life. There is a yearly search for participants for the program and it will be published in Turku KY’s social media.

Remember not to belittle the challenges you might face and seek support even in issues that feel small.

HOW CAN I HELP?

All the members of Turku KY and TSE have a role in building an open-minded culture where everyone feels welcomed. Also, it is important to answer our yearly Terve Mieli -questionnaire so that we can map out issues that our students are facing and intervene early on.

Monttu Ventures is a student-led investment company partly owned by KY Turku that supports early-stage startups. We invest in companies that have at least one student from a higher education institution in the Turku region as a founder. We provide funding, advice and networks to start-ups with the potential to grow and develop.

Monttu is run by students from the higher education institutions in Turku, and our board is chaired by the chairman of KY Turku's finance committee. Many alumni of the Turku School of Economics are also still actively involved in Monttu's activities.

Through our investment activities, students have the opportunity to learn in a practical way about entrepreneurship, venture capital and the startup ecosystem. Members of the operational team get to make actual decisions and grow into future influencers.

If you have a business idea or an interest in the startup world, feel free to contact us! For more information, visit our website monttuventures. fi and our social media channels LinkedIn and Instagram @monttuventures.

F A Q

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR COURSES AND EXAMS?

The first registration occurs at the Students Affairs Office (Opintotoimisto). After that you will register to courses online at student.peppi.utu.fi. Here you will also find your grades for completed studies. Most exams are taken on computers at the University, and registration for these exams occurs at exam.utu.fi, where you can either search yoru exam by the course code or go directly by the link provided by your lecturer.

WHERE CAN I FIND INFORMATION ON COURSES?

Specific information on courses can be found from the electronic curricula guide (https://opas. peppi.utu.fi/en/ courses-for-exchange-students/24345?period=2024-2027). The curricula guides provide you all the information you need on courses such as the teaching methods and study materials. For more information and facultyspecific restrictions, please see http://www.utu.fi/exchange-courses.

WHAT IF I GET ILL?

Generally you do not need to inform the lecturer or acquire a certification of illness if you are ill and cannot come to a lecture, though some courses with mandatory attendance have limited permitted absences. The students health care service FSHS serves you over at Kirkkotie 13. Find more information from their official website http://www.yths.fi/en. FSHS (The Finnish Student Health Service) is the most affordable option for students.

WHERE CAN I GET THE BOOKS AND OTHER COURSE MATERIAL?

Most course materials can be found electronically, and the lecturer will provide you with links to everything you need. If you need a physical book, you can find them in the university libray. Most often books for TSE courses can be found here at TSE's library. Check the availability and electronic versions of materials online at utuvolter.fi.

WHAT IS MOODLE?

Moodle is an online platform used on most courses at TSE. The course lecturer will provide you with link and password to the specific Moodle course page before its start. On Moodle you can find info about assessment, instructions, course materials and returning course work, among other things.

WHERE ARE MY LECTURES HELD?

Lecture rooms can usually be found in the curricula guide, email sent by your lecturer before the course, or the course Moodle area. You can find the map of the TSE building on your right as you walk through the main doors to the lobby, which details where all lecture rooms in TSE are located. Your lectures may also be held elsewhere on the university campus.

STUDENT DISCOUNTS?

After joining the Student Union TYY and paying the membership fee you are able to buy a student card. The Student card entitles you to for example such benefits as: free basic health care, student-priced lunches at student restaurants (EUR 2,95) and discounts in traveling. Check out available discounts at https://student. frank.fi/offers/.

WHERE SHOULD I EAT AROUND TSE?

Turku has two major student restaurant chains, the University of Turku's Unica and Abo Akademi's Fabrik Cafe. Both have restaurants all over Turku, and you can find the full list of places on their websites. At TSE we have our own Unica restaurant on the ground floor, Monttu, which is open Mon-Fri 11.00-13.30. Across the road we also have Assari, which is open every day of the week up until 19.45. All the student restaurants offer both meat and vegetarian options every day.

WHAT ARE STUDENT OVERALLS AND WHERE DO I GET THEM?

Overalls are a huge part of the Finnish student culture. You can see students all around Finland wearing overalls in different colours, that indicate where and what they study. We at Turun KY for example have navy blue overalls. We collect badges from different events and clubs we belong in and sew them onto the overalls, and everyone's overalls end up being a unique representation of them. There are also some traditions with overalls, for example only washing them while you are wearing them. To get the navy blue overalls, please contact the Committee for International Affairs (CIA); they organize overall try-ons for exchange students at TSE. Overalls cost around EUR 50.

WHERE CAN I FIND STUDENT EVENTS?

Rarely a week goes by here at Turun KY without at least one event being held. You can find all our events at our website's event calendar (tuky.fi/etusivu/tapahtumakalenteri), and on our different committees' and clubs' email lists and social media. Exchange students are welcome in all our events, though some of them are held mainly in Finnish.

HOW DO I BUY EVENT TICKETS?

Ticket sales are held over on Kide.App, which is a website / mobile app, so can be used both on laptop and your phone. Link to the ticket sale can be found on the event description, and the sale usually happens a week before the event itself. Event tickets usually range from EUR 5 to EUR 25 depending on the event type, with afterparties being cheaper and sitz parties on the more expensive side. Be sure to create an account and sign in before the ticket sale starts, as some events can sell out quick.

Warm autumn-greetings from Ulkkis!

Ulkkis is a freetime-committee that organises nearly 20 different party events every year from within the borders of Turku all the way to the Baltic Sea! The range of events includes two different bus events, the Parkin Sillis after the Pikkulaskiainen, the SikaWappu, the Peiskä cruise, which is growing every year, and many more. So Ulkkis is behind many memorable stories that you can't really make up.

In other words, Ulkkis events will give you access to the popular student life in Turku and the people it brings, both inside and outside TuKY. Also, our events offer the perfect counterbalance to exams and other everyday stress!

The first event of the autumn, the legendary PUPUSTART, is already on the horizon, where we will join forces with our dear friend KY-Sport to guarantee you a worthy first contact with us and the best time of your life. See you there! <3

NESU-TUKY

Helan går and greetings from NESU to all the new bunnies!

Turun KY offers a wide range of student activities, so there’s something for everyone. One of the most unique student organizations under Turun KY is NESU-TuKY, which primarily organizes academic dinner parties — better known as sitz. Sitz parties combine meeting new people, singing, food, drinks, and various entertainment acts throughout the evening!

NESU isn’t just a local thing here in Turku — the network extends to every economic student city in Finland, and even to a few other Nordic countries. NESU offers a fantastic opportunity to go on “ulkkari” trips, meaning you get to represent Turku at sitz events in other cities. You could, for example, explore different sitz cultures in places like Oulu, Tallinn, or even Stockholm. With us, you’ll get the chance to meet new people across city and country borders in a super welcoming setting, all while having fun — whether you’re a new or an older student!

So, what exactly is NESU? NESU stands for Nordiska Ekonomie Studerandes Union. Together, NESU organizations form a unique international business student community. In addition to sitz parties, NESU organizes a biannual NESU Conference, which is hosted in a different city each time. The NESU Conference is a week-long seminar and the crown jewel of NESU events — it truly captures the spirit of the community. Alongside sitz, NESU also organizes annual events like Dagen and Summer cottage, which gather students from every NESU-city in Finland!

Here in Turku, NESU-TuKY hosts multiple sitz parties each year, including the Christmas -themed PMPJ-Sitz during the holiday season, the practice sitz called “Harkkasitsit” in the second week of school just for new students, and the legendary Vappusitz. I can wholeheartedly recommend getting involved with NESU — you won’t regret it! NESU offers countless unforgettable memories, lifelong friendships, and amazing events — how could anyone turn down an offer like that?

This fall, your very first sitz experience will be the Harkkasitsit on September 4th (mark your calendars already!), and we hope to see every one of you there! Before the sitsit, you’ll also get to experience the legendary community-building moment of queueing for the ticket sales — stay tuned! In the meantime, you can check out our Instagram @nesu_tuky or TikTok @nesutuky ;)

Wishing you the best of luck with the start of your studies — see you this fall!

KY-SPORT

When I shout KY, you shout SPORT!!!

Have you already spotted our red-jacketed athletes? What on earth is KY-Sport?

We are the Sports Committee of Turun KY, and our mission is to offer a counterbalance to lecture sitting, exam stress, and the hustle and bustle of student life. We've been getting TuKY students moving since the 1980s, and everyone is welcome to join our activities—regardless of your year of study or athletic background. Our weekly offerings include Monday games, where participants vote on which sport to play, and the Tuesday “Parkin Run,” which ends with a sauna session and refreshments at our club house, Parkki. Our goal is also to help you find a way to move that you enjoy—of course, at a student-friendly price. That’s why we organize exciting new sport trials every month. So far, we've explored the worlds of bouldering, bubble football, trampoline jumping, and paintball.

For senior students, the fall traditionally kicks off with a hiking excursion—this year’s destination: the Dolomites in Italy. But before that, new students will already get a taste of KY-Sport during the legendary Pupustartti in week two, together with Ulkkis. In the fall, you’ll also get to warm up your throwing arm at the Academic Beer Pong Championships, and in the spring, the academic year wraps up with KYlympics, where overall-clad students compete in both adventure courses and economic-themed obstacle challenges.

KY-Sport gives you the chance to challenge yourself, build healthy routines, and enjoy the joy of movement together with other students.

See you in the fall!!

EVA

EDUNVALVONTAJAOSTO Committee for Social and Educational Affairs

Welcome, Bunny 2025!

We are Edunvalvontajaosto, better known as EVA (@edunvalvontajaosto), and we’re here to ensure that, alongside an amazing range of leisure events, your everyday student life and studies run smoothly – we’re here just for you! Led by our social and educational policy representatives, we take part in the administrative bodies of our school and make sure that students’ voices are heard where decisions that matter to us are made. Having trouble with a course? Feeling overwhelmed? Think the study spaces could be improved? Reach out to EVA – we’ll pass your feedback along and represent the student perspective in building a better learning environment for all of us.

But EVA isn’t just about advocacy – we know how to have fun too! During your Bunny Autumn, we’ll organize several events, and we hope to see you there. For example, the legendary Kaalimatobingo is a one-of-a-kind experience – the competition for dildos and condoms is intense, and the energy is sky-high!

Our flagship project is Terve Mieli ("Healthy Mind"), launched in 2019 to promote mental health support for students. The goal of the Terve Mieli project is to foster an accepting and open atmosphere around mental health topics, where even difficult conversations are welcome. Burnout, stress, and anxiety can affect any one of us. Terve Mieli offers prevention, information, and support for exactly these situations. You can find more information on the Turku KY website and on Instagram @tervemieli_tuky.

Through the Terve Mieli project, we organize annual events such as the Terve Mieli Fair and the Terve Mieli Survey. The fair aims to raise awareness about the importance of well-being and the support available, while the survey helps us collect valuable insights into students’ coping and mental health.

EVA is here to support your rights and your studies, so start your academic journey this autumn with confidence.

A warm welcome to you, Bunny 2025 – see you in the fall!

KULTTIS

KULTTUURIJAOSTO

The Cultural Committee

The warmest greetings new bunny!

We, your new friends at Kulttis (short for Kulttuurijaosto – see the picture above or below), are TuKY’s very own Culture Committee! Our mission is to organize events for students that, in one way or another, revolve around culture. At this point, though, we have to admit: culture can be pretty much anything, so we’re confident there’s something fun for everyone in our event lineup.

Our annual calendar features everything from legendary long-standing events to fresh new bangers. We host TuKY’s oldest event, Rahvixet, as well as the sparkling Glitterbileet, where you’ll get to enjoy a dazzling Drag Queen show!

While part of our role is to preserve long-standing traditions, we also have the freedom to come up with new concepts and bring fresh ideas to TuKY’s event calendar. One perfect opportunity for this is during the cultural events in spring and autumn. For example, this spring we launched a brand-new event concept: Food & Film!

In the fall, new bunnies can look forward to a one-of-a-kind chance to join Kulttis’ annual and wildly popular Archipelago Excursion! A boat will take us out to explore the stunning beauty of Turku’s archipelago. The trip sets sail on the 9th of September and is exclusive for bunnies, so mark the date in your calendar now—because if not now, then when? (Seriously though, the tickets go fast.)

All good things are worth the wait, so stay tuned for upcoming Kulttis events (see you there) and follow us on Instagram @kulttis ! <3

With much excitement on behalf of the entire Kulttis board,

CIA

COMMITTEE FOR INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

Hey there, new bunnies!

Did you know that about one third of the University of Turku’s exchange students study right here at the School of Economics? CIA, the Committee for International Affairs, offers you a fantastic opportunity to internationalize and make new friends from all around the world.

CIA is the subcommittee within TuKY responsible for all things international. We make sure our students can have international experiences right here at home. Some of our events include Cheers & Challenges, Practice Sitz, and Little Christmas. All our events are held in English, making them the perfect opportunity to brush up on your language skills in a fun and relaxed environment.

Everyone at TuKY – as well as all of our university’s exchange students – is warmly welcome to our events. Our first event of the autumn is Practice Sitz, happening on September 16th, so make sure to mark your calendars! It’s the perfect way to learn the secrets of sits culture and meet new people right from the start of the semester.

Make sure to follow us on Instagram @cia_tuky to be the first to hear about upcoming events! The entire CIA TuKY board warmly congratulates you, our new long-eared friends, on getting into Turku School of Economics. Let’s make this autumn unforgettable together – we can’t wait to see you at our events!

See you soon!!

Communications Team

Hello there new bunny!

The Communications Team is one of Turun KY's expert institutions, which together with the Head of Communications is responsible for the development of our association's communications, as well as providing support in maintaining our association's website. The main tasks of the Communications Team includes publishing Turun KY's very own magazine, KYliste, and fostering a long tradition of student journalism. The communications team consists of the editor-in-chief of KYliste, two visual designers and a website manager.

KYliste has been Turun KY's very own print media for more than half a century! This Bunny Guide is a special issue of KYliste, otherwise the magazine is published four times a year, twice in print in spring and autumn. An editorial meeting is organised for each new issue of KYliste, where all members of Turun KY are welcome to come and brainstorm the next issue.

The communications team warmly welcomes all people interested in writing, illustrating, photographing or just people that enjoy doing things together. New ideas and perspectives are always needed, and you don't need previous experience in producing a magazine to join KYliste's editorial team. So keep your bunny ears alert for the first editorial meeting of the autumn!

You can read the digital version of KYliste at issuu.com/ follow KYliste on Instagram @kyliste.

Welcome to TSE and see you in the fall! <3

PARKKIRYHMÄ

Parkki Team

What does real power and Turku Cathedral-sized authority feel like? What secrets does Parkki hold within its walls?

Parkki team is an expert institution of Turun KY responsible for taking care of our association’s home – Parkki. Led by the Head of Premises, Parkki team is primarily in charge of maintaining and developing Parkki. In practice, this includes training Parkki users, planning future investments and making necessary purchases, checking the cleaning results, and performing minor maintenance tasks.

Members of Parkki team take care of Parkki during their weekly shifts, during which they act as the “on-call person” for the week. This makes them the vital link between Parkki and its users. This ensures that Parkki remains a cozy and attractive place for organizing events. In addition to weekly shifts, Parkki team listens to suggestions for improvements, develops Parkki’s functionality, and comes up with ideas to benefit the entire community.

One special feature of Parkki team is that many students remain involved until they graduate. So, by joining the team, you’ll also get to know and become friends with students from older year groups. In Parkki team, you'll have the opportunity to help develop our clubhouse, learn about property maintenance, and get things done in great company. The team brings in new members whenever needed – so keep your ears open and don’t hesitate to send in your application when the time comes! You can follow our activities more closely on Instagram: @parkkiryhma

BAARITIIMI

Bar Team

Bar Monttu is Turun KY’s very own bar with full serving rights and a key role in many unforgettable student events. It’s located next to the student restaurant Monttu, inside the Turku School of Economics. During the day, the space serves as a lunch spot, but in the evening it transforms into a venue for the biggest parties of the year – from After Works to Christmas parties and May Day celebrations. Many bunnies get their first glimpse of Monttu already in the fall at the harkkasitz.

After Works are relaxed events where students gather to enjoy drinks, friends, and good vibes, often straight from lectures. They offer a fun way to unwind and socialize during the week.

All of this is made possible by Monttu’s bar team, working alongside the Bar Manager. The team serves drinks with skill and energy, but also takes part in planning and executing events, developing new ideas, and making sure everything runs smoothly.

Being part of the bar team means getting to experience student life from both behind the counter and as an organizer. Although the atmosphere is casual, the work is meaningful and full of responsibility. And don’t worry – being on the team doesn’t mean missing out on the fun. You’ll still get to enjoy the nights, just from a different angle.

New team members are recruited regularly, so keep an eye out and join the crew.

The

Financial Committee

What's the Financial Committee?

The Finance Committee is an advisory body on the finances of our association. In addition to its 10 members, the Financial Committee is made up of the Chair of the Financial Committee and the Director of Finance, who acts as Secretary. We have different year students as members and many of us are even graduates and working.

The Finance Committee advises the association on its finances. These include long-term financial planning and budgeting, management of our investment portfolio and corporate governance of the companies we own. The Finance Committee also handles matters relating to major projects or events coming up.

The Financial Committee is therefore a great and, above all, respected place to learn about financial management and investment. We meet once a month and the Financial Committee is a great place to spend many years, right up to the gates of professional life and beyond. Almost every year we are looking for experts to join our activities. So if you are interested in responsibility and financial management of an organisation and are willing to contribute your vision and expertise to the association, don't hesitate to come and join us.

CORE

TuKY Corporate Relations, or CORE, is Turun KY’s very own corporate collaboration team. CORE is responsible for Turun KY’s corporate relations, which can be seen for example at the school, during student events, and even on overalls. The orientation week gift bags are also put together by CORE. Turun KY’s Sales Manager leads the 12-member team, each of whom has their own area of responsibility – such as overall coordinator, project coordinator, or bar collaboration coordinator. The corporate relations representatives of each committee are also part of CORE.

The purpose of CORE is to act as a link between companies and the students of Turku School of Economics. CORE negotiates the best student benefits for TuKY members and takes care of things like our beloved student overalls. In addition, CORE organizes case evenings and company excursions in collaboration with partner companies. These events offer great opportunities to network with companies and learn more about future career possibilities. Perhaps the most visible event for students is the Interdisciplinary

Overall Party in Turku, which takes place on the first Wednesday of each month.

Through the application period opening in the fall, you can join our easygoing yet hardworking CORE team and develop valuable skills for your future career. While working with an amazing group, you’ll get a comprehensive overview of TuKY’s operations and have the chance to contribute to developing both CORE and TuKY. If you're interested in building connections to the business world and working with a fantastic team, apply this fall – being a part of CORE will definitely benefit your future!

We’re excited to welcome you to Turku this fall!

TUKY-SPEKSI

WHAT? Speksi is a theatrical spectacle combining humour, audience participation, dancing and music. The audience has the opportunity to influence the performance by shouting “omstart”, which is the core idea of speksi. The improvisation and element of surprise created by the omstarts is what makes speksi different from a normal theatre performance, and two performances are never the same. Speksi is a chance to be part of the theatre experience, where the audience takes the lead and the performers throw themselves into the moment!

IS IT JUST ACTING? Would you like to be in charge of the production's visuals, do the performers' hair and make-up, dance, play in the band, manage the production's finances, photograph the shows, challenge your limits as an actor, take charge of the production's corporate relations or sound and lighting? Our production needs all kinds of skills, and you don't need to have experience as a handy-man in your local summer theatre or a reputation as an acting star to join speksi. Everyone is welcome to join us!

WHY? Speksi is a chance to express yourself and also see your work become a significant part of a larger production. Within speksi, you get to be a part of one big family and meet new people across year boundaries. Speksi can make your future years of study more eventful and fun. If you feel interested at all, apply to be on stage or backstage to create a memorable performance with us!

Have you ever wondered what the biggest student event in Finland is? And have you ever wondered where the student culture of Turku culminates? Pikkulaskiainen, Finland's largest student event, provides a fitting frosty answer.

Pikkulaskiainen is Finland's largest winter festival, which takes place in February at the Market Square and around the centre of Turku. And best of all, this festival is aimed at you, students. Pikkulaskiainen gathers up to 13 000 students to enjoy a beautiful winter's day among fellow students from all over Finland. Top Finnish artists will perform at the event, including for example Isac Elliot and Mirella, who danced the festival audience this year. The event also culminates in a mystical sledding competition, where student organisations and companies will compete for the title of the best ski team with their own built equipment. Over the years, there has been for example a sledding steam locomotive, as well as the City of Turku's own mascot, Posankka.

Pikkulaskiainen is a festival planned and run by the people of our student organisation, and every year the event seeks both production team members and volunteers from our students to help organise our event. By joining us, you will get a peek behind the scenes of a big event, and become a part of an amazing little family. Our 15 member production team is looking for you, a valuable newcomer, to join us in making the world's most fun and unique event. Once again, congratulations on your place in the best school in our country, and see you at KaupSu at the latest.

With frosty greetings,

Pikku and the production of Pikkulaskiainen

VUOSIJUHLAT

The Annual Ball

Welcome – pause for a moment and read carefully, because this is something you wouldn't want even your worst enemy to miss. By now, you’ve probably noticed the word anniversary year floating around. You've likely overheard upperclassmen and tutors whispering and speculating about the Annual Ball – its theme, venue, afterparty artist, the courses of the dinner, and some strange place called the silliaamiainen. And now you're wondering – what do herrings have to do with any of this? What on earth is this anniversary year and what are these Turku KY Annual Ball celebrations that everyone is already talking about and strategizing how to score a ticket? And above all – what is Turku KY, and why is this year so special?

Well, let’s start from the beginning. Turun KY is an association founded in 1950 for business students at Turku School of Economics. Over the decades, it has built a unique community, cherished traditions, and countless unforgettable moments at the heart of the school. This year, that story reaches its 75th chapter – and if anything deserves celebration, it's this. That's why this anniversary year, and the Annual Ball taking place in October, will be celebrated bigger, bolder, and more memorable than ever before.

This year, the Annual Ball will be held on Friday, October 24th, 2025, but the celebratory atmosphere begins much earlier. The festivities start already in early autumn, and once October arrives, the entire Turun KY breathes in rhythm with the approaching celebration as the Annual Ball season officially kicks off.

For you, dear bunnies, the opening of Annual Ball season means one very special thing: you will don the traditional white cap with the Turun KY cockade for the first time – and proudly call yourself a kylteri (business student). And what a season you’re about to witness! The student body gets to enjoy a packed calendar of events as committees and volunteers give their all to deliver a diverse and dazzling season full of celebration. The season culminates in the Annual Ball itself – an event that will be talked about for years to come, and where lasting memories are made.

The main celebration gathers current students, alumni, and invited guests to honour 75 years of legacy with a delicious dinner, delightful program, and most importantly, beloved friends. After the main event, it's time to head to the most anticipated afterparty of the year – where night becomes morning in the blink of an eye.

And when the music fades and the glitter settles, you might feel a certain emptiness – but fear not, for the sillis still awaits. The silliaamiainen is a relaxed and joy-filled finale to the celebration, where the fancy dress is swapped for themed outfits and the festive crowd gathers one last time to enjoy a slow morning filled with laughter, good food, and quirky activities. It’s the moment when the previous night’s festivities transform into shared memories.

A celebration of this scale and significance doesn’t come together on its own. This year, an 18-person Annual Ball team has taken on the challenge of creating an even grander and more unforgettable celebration – but we can’t do it alone. That’s where you come in. Here lies your chance to transform from a bunny into a nakki (volunteer) and experience the Annual Ball from the front lines. Just like the event tickets, volunteer spots are snatched up quickly. So stay tuned for updates from the Annual Ball team throughout the fall, and apply to be part of making Turku KY’s most spectacular event a reality. Congratulations once again – we hope to see you in the midst of the celebration!

On behalf of the entire Annual Ball team,

Samu Ruikka & Totte Pajuniemi

VAPPU

May Day

The May Day crowns the academic year, and is a unique and memorable time for students in many ways. In all its glory and variety of events, TuKY's May Day is unrivalled. The number of events is well illustrated by the fact that the period is usually referred to as 'May Day Weeks' and memories of the weeks are still talked about long after the students have finished their studies.

TuKY's May Day always starts with the traditional Kuntalaisbailut, to which all members of TuKY are welcome. The May Day party culminates in the Ulkkis’ Sikawappu and a May Day picnic on Vartiovuorenmäki. However, in between the Kuntalaisbailut and picnic, there are many events such as bus rides, sitz parties, ice hockey, pilates and even an interdisciplinary student amusement park. So there is something for everyone. This year, we celebrated the longest May Day ever at TuKY, for 19 days and 22 events!

But May Day doesn't just happen by itself, and a whole host of different operators are involved in creating this spectacle. In addition to the May Day team, the TuKY Board and other operators play an important role in creating an unforgettable experience for all TuKY members. Vappu takes a lot, whether in the role of organiser or participant, but gives much more.

Recruitment of the May Day producers and the team will take place at the beginning of the year, so be on the alert if you are interested in organising an unforgettable student holiday! The team will give you the chance to experience new things, develop your skills and meet new people. For example, the team also organises one of the biggest events of Turku's student holiday, the MayDay Mayhem.

This spectacle is worth seeing and experiencing from the pole position!

KY-Jets is Turun KY’s own ice-hockey team, with traditions stretching back to the 1970s. The present-day squad was re-established in 2014 in honour of that legacy and will once again fly its flag proudly in the coming season. The “Hornets” practise once a week in Kupittaa’s hockey sanctuary, Rajupaja Arena.

During the season the team plays in both the CampusSport league and the nationwide FCAA university league. The campaign culminates in the ever-growing Hockey Night in Kupittaa spectacle, held in the roaring cauldron of the Kupittaa rink.

Everyone is welcome to get involved, whether you’re a burly workhorse, an elite-level goal-getter, an eager, hardchecking “cage-head” or even a team staffer. All you need is a sporting spirit and basic hockey gear—KY-Jets supplies everything else. If your heart beats louder for supporter chants, there’s space in the stands with the KY-Jets Ultras. Find more about the team on Instagram @kyjets.

See you at the rink!

KY-GUNNERS

KY-Gunners is the official football team of our business school, founded in spring 2023. Our activities revolve around football, and we train weekly on pitches near the center of Turku. The team also offers opportunities to participate in CampusSport’s futsal and football leagues, so there’s plenty of action all year round.

But Gunners is about more than just sweaty training sessions and tactical meetings. The team also hosts sauna nights, tournaments, and social events, welcoming both seasoned players and new hobbyists alike. Highlights of the season include the spring rink football tournament and our very own FIFA tournament, where we search for the campus’s top button-masher. Not to forget the most atmospheric trip of the year abroad to experience top-tier European football live!

If you’re into football and good company, KY-Gunners is a great way to get involved in student life (and sports) in a relaxed and fun way. Follow us on Instagram @kygunners – and see you on the field!

Our events work as an excellent counter balance to the otherwise rough partying of the bunny-year, but wilder events can also be found from our repertoire.

Check out the sweatiest of last year’s events from Instagram at @sawusauna. We’ll meet you in the sauna!

PINTAHIIVA

The purpose of Surface yeast is to promote and nurture beer culture in its most noble forms at Turun KY and the universe at large. With this principle in mind, the society organizes malt-themed conferences and workshops so that the brewing doesn't stop at the Park. Watch your fax!

TUKY GOLF

TuKY Golf, the Turku School of Economics Golf Club, is an association founded in spring 2020 for students of the Turku School of Economics. The club’s roots go back to 2005, when the TuKY Golf & Country Club was originally established. Our mission is to inspire students to discover the world of golf and to offer diverse events built around the sport.

In 2025, our activities have remained active and exciting! This spring, we organized our first-ever golf simulator practice day, which turned out to be a great concept. As usual, our regular events have included two rounds of Green Card courses and the popular Spring Scramble. In the autumn, we’ll determine the Turku School of Economics golf champion in our traditional championship tourna-

ment. The year will culminate in a golf excursion—this time to the warm, sunny shores of Cádiz, Spain.

TuKY Golf offers a low-threshold opportunity to get into golf in a relaxed and encouraging environment. Our club is a great way to meet like-minded students and find new playing partners. No previous experience is required — players of all levels are more than welcome!

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us easily via Instagram @tukygolf or just tap us on the shoulder on campus. Welcome aboard—we’ll see you at the events and on the golf course!

TUKY YACHT CLUB

TuKY Yacht Club is our own sailing club, the oldest student sailing club in Turku. Our aim is to introduce enthusiastic students to the world of sailing, and the activities are open to all, whether you're a beginner or an experienced sailor. During the year we organise sailing-related activities and we also cooperate with sailing clubs from other universities and faculties.

The highlight of the year for the Yacht Club is a sailing trip to the Mediterranean Sea, with nearly half a hundred students! Week of sailing and the trip has been described as the best week of their lives! So come along and check out the Greek archipelago or the Corsican coastline at least once during your studies!

TUKY PILATES

Namaste, bunnies!

We are the Academic Pilates Enthusiasts of Turku (Turun Akateemiset Pilatesharrastajat ry), the newest student organization under Turku School of Economics’ student association. On social media and among business students, we're also known as TuKY-Pilates – or simply, Pilates. Our goal is to bring students together through pilates, a practice that supports not only physical health but also mental well-being.

The cornerstone of our activities is the weekly Pilates classes, which became a huge hit last spring. Our members have the opportunity to join these classes every week – no matter their skill level – all in a positive and welcoming atmosphere. And if Pilates isn’t quite your thing, no worries! We also organize events such as Pilates & Brunch, Men’s Night, and Outdoor Yoga, so there’s something for everyone.

You can follow our journey on Instagram, so be sure to follow @tukypilates. See you at our fall sessions!

Looking forward to bunny-Pilates, TuKY-Pilates Board <3

TSE-LISTA

TSE-lista advocates for the interests of members of TuKY (yes, that means you!) in the Student Union of the University of Turku’s (TYY) Representative Council. TYY is one of the largest student unions in Finland and promotes student interests at the university-wide level. When you register as an attending student at the university, you automatically become a member of the student union.

The highest decision-making power in the student union lies with the 41-member Representative Council, which consists of different representative groups. TSE-lista is a politically independent group formed by members of TuKY, PorKy (business students in Pori), and T-klubi (economics students). Currently, TSE-lista holds seven (7) seats in the Representative Council. So, what happens in the Representative Council? The Council meets once a month to make important decisions affecting the operations of the student union. These decisions impact your student life directly — for example, the amount of the student union membership fee, the selection of student representatives in university administration and the allocation of the student union's funds. TSE-lista focuses on issues such as responsible financial decisions, flexible completion of studies, student well-being and the development of all campuses. We focus on advocating for students’ interests!

We’re here for you, and that’s why we want to hear your opinion! Don’t hesitate to get in touch and chat with us — let’s build an even better student union together. We’re always looking for new enthusiastic business students to join us and make a difference!

Follow us on Instagram to stay up to date with what we’re doing. Welcome to TuKY and TYY!
