At KW, we recognize the critical importance of effective stormwater management in creating sustainable and resilient communities. That’s why we work closely with civil engineers like LJA to develop water management systems and storm trap systems that are integrated into the urban fabric. By closely collaborating with experts, we create designs that are environmentally responsible and sustainable, promoting the long-term health of our communities.
Programming is crucial for the success of mixeduse developments. By integrating different uses and activities in a cohesive and functional way, programming can create vibrant, attractive, and socially engaging environments that meet the needs of residents and visitors alike.

Collaboration is the driving force behind our design process. We firmly believe that the most successful designs are the result of a collaborative effort that combines the expertise and ideas of different professionals. Our team works closely with architects to translate their vision into outdoor spaces that seamlessly complement their building designs. We collaborate with civil engineers to ensure that our projects are functional and sustainable, with features such as water management systems and storm trap systems built into the urban fabric. We also work with structural engineers to create stunning monument and wayfinding signage, as well as with MEPs and lighting vendors to provide safety lighting throughout the project. Our knowledge of working with local government and jurisdictions helps to ensure the permitting and construction process goes smoothly. With our collaborative approach, we strive to create designs that are not only beautiful but also efficient and safe for everyone.

As part of the development team for the Century Square Master Plan, KW worked alongside Gensler and Midway to bring the vision to life. Our contribution included the design of a central courtyard with seating areas, water features, pedestrian walkways, and lighting. Our team also played a role in the relocation and preservation of several trees on the property. We designed the pedestrian crosswalks and roundabouts, creating a multi-functional space that could host live music, concerts, and community events. Additionally, our team designed a courtyard and a resort-style pool with lounge areas for both the multi-family and hospitality developments. Finally, we designed the irrigation and streetscape for the entire development, ensuring a cohesive and functional design.
During our scheduled visioning session we meet with the client to discuss design direction and their likes and dislikes utilizing material boards. During this session we discuss everything from water features to paver pattern styles. Our team proposes the best planting pallet for the development as well as site furnishings to enhance the space. We will also discuss ideas for site signage and wayfinding.
Through the use of renderings, we are able to showcase the design and overall vision of the space. This also aids the client in their quest for funding and community involvement.
Once the design elements are set, everything comes together in the building phase to bring the entire vision to life.

Midway recommended us to other project developers and we were able to team with Kirksey Architecture to design the courtyard and exterior amenities including outdoor seating and a resort style pool.
When construction is initiated, our dedicated Construction Administration (CA) Team can be on-site periodically during the construction process to uphold high-quality installation standards. They are connected throughout the project but their role begins during the construction documentation phase and bid advertisement, to warranty inspection and final punch walks, ensuring that the contractor is providing the correct softscape and hardscape materials. Additionally, our CA Team will consistently communicate with selected contractors to promptly process submittals, RFI’s, and pay applications.
Our CA Team regularly performs field visits to ensure materials and installation meets specifications. They are also available to tag trees and review plant and hardscape materials. Field reports are prepared after each visit, itemizing any potential issues. Closeout inspections are also provided at the end of the construction phase.
