Forge (1879)

O.G. Kverneland: black smith & ploughman. Here demonstrating how well balanced his ploughs are.

A Success Story

Kverneland is famous for producing strong and high performing implements with low operating costs.

Innovation from the start

In 1879 at the age of 25, Ole Gabriel Kverneland founded his business in a small village south of Stavanger, Norway. Brought up on a farm and educated in agriculture, he understood the machinery requirements of farmers. He strongly believed in innovation and succeeded in producing implements well suited for the tough conditions of south-west Norway.

Over the years, Kverneland's engineers have developed special process of steel heat treatment and new steel grades of unique strength. Especially adapted to manufacture Kverneland's robust, easy to lift and pull ploughs.

By using ISOBUS technology, Kverneland has also developed the first ISOBUS mounted reversible plough with functionalities like FURROWcontrol for easy, straight furrows.

In 2012, Kverneland Group Klepp, part of Kverneland Group, was acquired by the Japanese corporation KUBOTA, to continue its development further.

High Productivity and Quality

The focus is on continuous optimisation of the production processes, maximising product quality and increasing productivity.

Continuous process of constant improvement: KAIZEN KAIZEN means continuous business improvement involving everyone who works for the company. Therefore, employees are the key in all of our processes. By ongoing training, employees are made aware of how success is being achieved by daily perfection, right down to the smallest detail.

The KAIZEN philosophy is a major driver in the manufacturing concept where we constantly strive to further improve the quality performance and the production flow.

This also facilitates the adjustment to the changing demands of the market. Kverneland Group Klepp offers one of the broadest and most complete product range of ploughs. These are produced for two brands: Kverneland and Kubota.

It is all about flexibility. Thanks to the modular design of the product range, it’s possible to produce different models on the same production line in a continuous and efficient flow.

Enjoying the work, using the skills and developing talents and encouraging personal growth.

Kverneland Steel Technology

Optimise robustness to maximise profitability

Kverneland’s unique steel

More than 140 years of experience in developing special steel grades and heat treatment processes have resulted in an unsurpassed quality and wear resistance.

Not only a few selected parts undergo the heat treatment processes but the complete plough. This results in ploughs that are lighter than competitors´ and extremely robust while delivering outstanding performance.

Induction hardened frame

To guarantee the durability of the plough, Kverneland heat treats the frame as well. Most competitors do not. The induction process allows less steel to be used, which results in less weight to pull and lift whilst ensuring a higher resistance.

To maximise lifetime and performance of mouldboards, Kverneland uses a carburizing process which results in a mouldboard with a hard surface and a flexible core. Picture on top: Induction heat treatmend for frame sections.

Innovation is Strength

We constantly strive to create value for our customers by optimising existing products and by developing new solutions.

Kverneland “trendsetter”

Kverneland Group Klepp has been regarded as a trendsetter for a long time. Kverneland innovations have set new standards for the industry.

As there are:

The first plough for tractor (1928), the first lifted plough for a 3 point linkage (1947), the first reversible ploughs with auto-reset system (1971), the reversible point (1973), Variomat (1981)…, the first ISOBUS mounted reversible plough (2015), FURROWcontrol for straight furrows (2017) and more…

Modern agriculture

Capacity and cost of ownership are keywords within modern agriculture. Our Research & Development department aims to make farming more efficient and hence more profitable for our customers.

During the development process, material and functional tests are carried inside our premises and outside. All new machines are thoroughly tested in collaboration with farmers and contractors around the world, ensuring quality and design to meet the highest expectations.

The R&D department develops and tests new solutions and plough equipment. Kverneland Group Klepp is also a central test centre for all KvG factories.

PULLING FORCE (KN)*

High Perfomance Ploughs

Kverneland ploughs benefit from an outstanding reputation worldwide: high agronomic performance and low wearing.

Low pull requirement

Recent university studies, FH Cologne and Wilsmannn 2012, have revealed that the design of Kverneland bodies offer some of the lowest pulling forces on the market: from -20% to -42% when ploughing at 20 cm working depth and -11% to -24% at 30 cm.

Optimised profitability

It is therefore possible to plough with one extra Kverneland body and gain in output compared to competition for the equivalent pulling forces. In regards to fuel consumption, it is reduced by 19% to 28% when using a Kverneland plough.

Wide choice of bodies

Over the years, Kverneland has designed bodies which are adapted to any soil conditions.

Each body releases independently from each other due to the well-known Kverneland leaf-spring system.

Ploughing

It is a necessary step in most crop management solutions.

Subsoiler CLG II for loosening soil compaction

Kverneland range

Ploughing, as a soil preparation technology buries residues, improves water capillarity, prevents volunteer crops and reduces the potential for fungi diseases and weed growth.

Kverneland has developed a wide range of mounted and semi-mounted reversible ploughs from 2 up to 12 furrows to work efficiently in any soil conditions and with any tractors. In-furrow and/or On-land operations are available.

Customers can choose integrated options for re-consolidation such as Packomat or packeram and trailed packer.

Beside the plough range the subsoiler CLG II is produced in Klepp too.

The wearing parts production is very important due to the special heat treatment facility, especially for ploughs, cultivators and other Kverneland Group implements.

Mounted-reversible plough, 2- to 7-furrows

The ploughs can be equipped with different bodies and accessories adapted to all soil conditions and are easy to set-up and to operate. The pulling line adjusts automatically and the Kverneland Variomat system optimises the ploughing width on the move for optimal performance.

Every plough model is available with either shearbolt leg protections or Auto-reset leafspring protection for stony conditions.
