VEERLE SOETERS

WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY PROUD OF?

I’m proud of being independent and being able to support myself from a young age. Being a model of course played a huge part in that. But I’m proud of always pushing through even when times weren’t that clear or when I was having a hard time with my mental health. I chose to always push through, keep developing myself and keep going even when things got to their lowest point. Not only on a work perspective, but also in my personal life. I’m proud of myself but I’m also very proud to have had the support system around me to help me achieve that.

WHAT WAS THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU EVER RECEIVED?

That’s a good one, but a hard one. I think it would be that you can only be seen when you don’t hide yourself. I used to have a way of adapting myself so other people would like me or I would fit in their perfect picture. This left me in a place where I never felt loved for who I was, just for who they thought I was and what that version did for them. Also I noticed that the people who loved me most were the people I was not afraid to be truly myself with. So that really helped me to be able to just be myself, express myself, set my boundaries, build my own life and hobbies etc. And if that didn’t fit another person’s liking then they just weren’t for me. That was also a good piece of advice. You can’t be everyone’s person, not everyone is going to like you, and that’s fine.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WON THE LOTTERY TOMORROW?

I would build several schools in Africa, help several families adopt children, build my mum a house and make sure that my children are secure.

WHAT WAS YOUR DREAM JOB AS A CHILD?

As a child, I always wanted to be a pilot because I was fascinated by how something so heavy could fly.

WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY PROUD OF?

I am proud to have three wonderful children.

PAULINA ROCK

IF YOU COULD CHOOSE ONE SUPERPOWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Without batting an eyelid: teleportation! I love travelling so much and if I could be in Seville one morning, maybe lie on a beach somewhere in the afternoon and then lie in my own bed in the evening, that would be just fantastic. If I miss my grandma then I could teleport direct to her sofa in Berlin. It would also save me time travelling and I wouldn‘t have to take public transport all the time, which would be very practical and save a lot of time. But the important thing here is that I would want to take people with me.

WHAT DO YOU COOK FOR YOUR GUESTS?

My Jollof rice is super tasty. Jollof is a West African rice dish that is cooked in a special flavoured tomato sauce. All my friends love Jollof so it‘s a great choice. Now that I‘m writing about it, it‘s whetting my appetite.

WHICH PERSON WOULD YOU LIKE TO SWAP YOUR LIFE WITH FOR A DAY?

I’d like to swap my life for one day with a monk and see how they live their life and what mentality they have about everything and what does peace of mind mean for them.

WHAT ARE YOUR BIGGEST FASHION SINS?

My biggest fashion sins will probably be that I sometimes wear shoes that are too tight or in this day and age I guess wearing skinny jeans (there‘s deffo nothing wrong with them!) and lastly I think double denim is elite.

WHAT MAKES AN ATTRACTIVE PERSON FOR YOU?

What makes a person attractive to me is if they can make me smile or laugh a lot, fashion sense and if they smell amazing.

VICKY

HOW WOULD YOUR BEST FRIENDS DESCRIBE YOU?

Always up for something spontaneous, very open-minded; I like chatting to people who are connecting, humorous, emphatic and creative; which is why I‘m now starting to study Interior Design.

WHAT THINGS DO YOU ALWAYS CARRY WITH YOU?

A book incase you have time to kill, a disposable camera to capture beautiful moments and headphones, because without music there‘s no life!

WHAT SHOULD NOT BE MISSING IN YOUR FRIDGE?

I actually think Sriracha I could slap it on everything! Other than that, basics like yoghurt, I love eating it for breakfast. Also some frozen basics like mozzarella sticks or pizza should not be missing, in case you need something quick (e.g. after a party :0)
