Junior Cadets at KSU DET 630 1986

On the family front, we've raised 3 boys; our oldest is a sophomore at Bowling Green, our middle son is a freshman at Ohio State and our youngest is a junior at Bitburg American HS here in Germany. We have some very fond memories of Kent and Det 630, Cindy and I met there during our sophomore year and got married after graduation in 1987. The Air Force has really been pretty fun and made for and exciting life. We've very much enjoyed our assignments and had a great time living overseas for most of our career. We hope to continue with that lifestyle as I head for retirement in the next couple years. I'm planning to follow Cindy around as her dependent while she continues to work for the Department of Defense schools as a nurse. I suppose some day we will end up back in NE Ohio, we're just not sure when that will be. If any of your cadets have questions or make their way to Europe, we'd be happy to host them while they are here, tell them to send us an email. We'll be sure to stop by the next time we're back in the area. We're trying to get our youngest to think about KSU but he says he's going to Ohio U instead; can't get them to go where mom and dad went! Take care, Lt Col Joseph A. Greetings Detachment 630 Alumni, My name is Brandon Pesicek and I am currently a senior cadet at Detachment 630 planning to graduate and commission in December of 2012. I grew up in Ravenna, Ohio and decided to stay in the area for college where I currently attend Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland pursuing a degree in aerospace engineering. I have two younger brothers – Tyler and Trevor, and the oldest will be starting his studies at Akron University in the Fall. While difficult at times being a cross-town cadet to Kent State University, I have been lucky to be able to stay close to my family while getting my education and having the opportunity to be a part of the ROTC program at Detachment 630. This semester at the Detachment has been fast-paced, rewarding, and fun for everyone. The Cadet Wing has risen and grown beyond expectation from my perspective as Cadet Wing Commander this semester. I started this semester with the overarching goals of “setting the example” and raising the bar for every cadet in the wing. Especially with the motivated Senior and Junior classes that made up the POC this semester, I knew that if I wasn’t pushing them to raise the bar, they would be pushing me. And raise the bar they did – with just a few of many examples being 100% acceptance for rated position applications from our 300’s and 400’s, the first ever Joint Military Ball with Army and Air Force ROTCs, over 350 hours of recruiting time this semester by cadets, and over 400 hours of cadet volunteer time toward detachment maintenance and improvement. I am proud to have worked with the new Lieutenants that I recently saw receive their commission on May 4th, as well as the cadets that will soon follow in their footsteps over the course of the next year. I look up to many of them and can assure those alumni on Active Duty of the caliber of officers that will be joining them in the near future. This semester has been full of challenges and successes as we have done our best to uphold the tradition of excellence that has been established at Detachment 630 as it was passed on to us, and as we now pass it on to the next class. Thank you all for your time, and the Cadet Corps and I send our greetings to all of you! -Cadet Brandon Pesicek

Some things never change‌ The spirit of the boys is still the same. They made us smile, laugh out loud and kept us captivated by their stories. They shared their wisdom and their friendship. We hope you do the same! Come back and visit!

Major and Mrs. Scott Haddick donated $100 to DET 630 on 09 Feb 2012. Thank You! Major Dominic “Beaver” Ross donated American Flag flown over Afghanistan in DET 630’s honor. Captain Dan Morgan donated his patch to DET 630. Captain Patrick Sines donated his patch to DET 630.

Thank you for continuing to support DET 630 with your visits, coins, patches and other artifacts from your career. Recently we were able to visit the MAPS Air Museum and walked through their “Hall of Fame.” I would love to think that one day DET 630 will be filled with as many great contributions as the museum has. I think we are well on our way. I know that each and every one of you has something to contribute. It does not have to be valuable and certainly do not give up anything of real value to you; however, it would be great to something to represent each one of you who called this DET their home. I look forward to your emails, calls and visits. Cindy
