FINANCE SCHOLARS

The Gates Capital Management Center for Financial Analysis hosts the K-State Finance Scholars Program that prepares students for careers in investment banking, asset management, private equity, and management consulting. This past academic year, 2021-22, was an exciting year for both level of activities and student outcomes. As the world reopened from COVID lockdowns, we shifted to in-person workshops and alumni meetings and traveled to five cities to make connections. Several Finance Scholars took individual trips to network with professionals in our target sectors.
We have started seeing great results as job and internship placements have been outstanding this year. Ten of eleven students who graduated this year went to work in our target sectors. Almost all juniors and sophomores have internships this summer. Two years ago, we made a conscious effort to target sophomores and freshmen and that decision has started to pay dividends.
Thanks to the support from alumni and friends, Finance Scholars receive many benefits. In addition to networking and career development opportunities, students receive base and bonus scholarships that depend on their level of involvement and activity. By leveraging our alumni network, faculty expertise, and industry focused training products, Scholars improve their technical and finance skills. We thank all who visited with our students, held workshops for them, and opened their offices for visits in a challenging COVID environment. We are also appreciative of alumni who continue to financially support our program.
Moving forward, we plan to make deeper and broader connections with our alumni. We invite all to get involved with the K-State Finance Scholars Program. We would love the opportunity to host you for meetings and workshops and visit your offices to learn about the world of finance. We look forward to the next year as we have some exciting developments including a dedicated space for Gates Capital Management Center for Financial Analysis which will be used to support the Finance Scholars.

“The Finance Scholars program continues to provide tremendous learning opportunities that are not available to the typical student. It is amazing to have a group of not only competent but compassionate peers to work and grow with. I can’t express the gratitude I have for the opportunities this program continues to present me with!”
