FARM
SERVICE
OUR SERVICE
GSC Grays are providing FREE and independent farm business advice to farmers in Northern England. The Farm Business Advice Service is funded by DEFRA’s Future Farming Resilience Fund, created to support farmers and land managers during the early years of the Agricultural Transition.
More than 300 farmers benefited from our expertise through the previous AHDB scheme, seeing firsthand how invaluable budgeting advice and other simple steps can be in preparing farm businesses for the future.

STRATEGIC ACTION PLANNING
ON-FARM BUSINESS REVIEW
The service includes a free, on-farm business review with one of our Farm Business Consultants which will look at your business goals for the next 5-10 years. Support will be given to develop an action plan that will help you to overcome any barriers you face in achieving your goals.
Examples of the advice we can offer include:
• Business expansion, restructuring or diversification
• Business planning, budget forecasting & cash flow management
• Improving productivity and financial returns
• Maximising environmental stewardship opportunities
• Feasibility studies for new business opportunities
• Succession and exit planning
If further support is needed, there is a mixture of one-to-one and group services that the scheme can offer you.
SPECIALIST SUPPORT SERVICES
ONE-TO-ONE SERVICES
Where further one-to-one support will be beneficial, this will be offered either through follow up consultancy or via one of our specialist support services.
The follow-up consultancy will measure progress made against the action plan recommendations and offer advice to help you stay on track to achieve your goals.
The specialist support service offers in-depth help with an immediate business need. This bespoke service will offer business planning, budget and cash flow forecasts, and environmental appraisals, amongst other services, to determine the feasibility of the opportunity for your business.
GROUP SERVICES
The on-farm business review may identify a specific need that can be delivered without further one-to-one support.

Over the course of the project, we will be running a series of on-farm workshops, events and webinars which will respond to the common issues identified in the initial reviews. In addition, farmers wishing to work collaboratively and share ideas could be invited to join a business development group which will meet quarterly over the space of a year.
Finally, all businesses will also have access to an online resource centre covering common topics and shared learning opportunities.
