Stemming from the 6 sided hexagonal shape 6nnections early childhood center will embody nurture, connection, attachment, environment, self-regulation, and balance.

Nurture: Creating dependable relationships in a child's life weather that is their parents, siblings, family, friends, teachers, parental figures or guardians.

Connection:

Environment: Building healthy relationships to a child's surroundings.

Self-regulation:

giving and takings of minds, emotions, and genetics

Finding independence as a child is important and should be encouraged in a safe environment.

Attachment:

Balance:

providing security in a child's life promotes long term health benefits through consistency in their early life.

Unity is needed between risk and protective factors in order for a child to grow individually.

Design Influences

Nurture Cas Holman is a American toy designer. She is best known for her creative approach to toy design. Her mission is to create objects for kids to tap into their creativity through unstructured play.These toys and structures fits in with 6nnections staff desire for kids to learn without the idea of write and wrong. So they will be implemented throughout the multipurpose area proceeding the main entrance through a custom built textile wall.

Early Childhood Care Needs Space Needed: ●

While the 35 square foot standard for children is sen in most state regulations it is recommended to have 45-50 sq feet per child

All classrooms need to have the contrast between a learning area and a cozy space

When entering a classroom there needs to be a transition area or know as a mudroom to help get the kids situated

●

Windows Should be at child height but also think of window treatments to allow for them to be blocked if seen to be a distraction at times

Central air cooling systems are a necessity as schools are in operation year round

Grade Level Classrooms: Each classroom is catered to the age group and as age increases so does the level of interaction and complexity to the space.The older children are closer to the main entrance to allow new parents to see what is to come with the 5 and 4 year olds laughter and commotion filling the space. Also interior windows exposing the walkway to welcome parents and friends to watch their children learn.
