RVHS Parent Bulletin Aspiration Respect Endeavour Week ending: Friday 16th March 2018 “Our vision is to be the school of choice for our local community, developing successful young people with high aspirations, who show respect for all and endeavour to become the very best that they can be.”
Message from the Head of School I am delighted to announce that following some outstanding applications, interviews and presentations, Harry Boyd-Walker has been appointed Head Boy and Grace Cain has been appointed Head Girl. I am absolutely delighted with these appointments and know that they will be fantastic in their new roles. I would at this point like to thank our retiring Head Boy, Matthew Tinker and Head Girl, Lauren Humphries for their amazing work and the legacy that they have created within the sixth form. They have ably led a Student Executive Committee and helped shape the future of the school council and sixth form led activities. I am immensely proud of their work and wish them both every success in their career choices. Due to the outstanding quality of the applications received, their innovative ideas and the upcoming house leadership interviews we have offered the following leadership positions on the Student Executive: House Liaison Lead: Leia Humphries Environment Lead: Angel Dean Charities Lead: Sophie Ellicock-Williams Digital Director: Kevin Turner Social Inclusion Lead: Ben Botterman Subject Prefect and Creativity Lead: Alice Redknap Reading Mentor Lead: Imogen Riordan Lower School Mentoring Lead: Abbie Juniper Upper School Mentoring Lead: Rachel Opoku-Manu Congratulations to all of these students and I will announce the House Captains next week. These interviews were held all day today and I am so pleased that 37 students put themselves forward to be a House Captain. Our students are the strength of the school and a real credit to us all. Thank you to all the Year 8 parents who attended the parent consultations. It was a very positive evening with very high attendance; the students are making very good progress. Please do look at the attached BBC News report prepared by our very talented year 8s with Mr. Ryan. Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated. The PPEs are ongoing and the students have all taken a very mature and purposeful approach to these exams. I am very appreciative of the parental support at this stressful time and if you have any concerns please do make them known to the school. Can I remind parents that Smart Watches or similar are not allowed in the exam hall. Please also note the email sent out to Year 12/13 parents regarding the study leave arrangements during this period.
