The transition from the 19th to 20th century is characterized by incoming new approaches in architecture. Industrial revolution brought new materials, big order styles and their neovariations are moving backward, modern materials and constructions set the architecture free from long historical boundedness. During the end of 18th century cast iron, in the fi rst half of the 19th century iron, and in 60s steel played an important role which allows not only rich fl oral decoration, but served also as a main construction element in load bearingstructures in big projects such as bridges, towers, halls. It gave them a new expression and aesthetic and became therefore fully visually effective. Iron mainly brought new spatial experience to architecture - immense proportions, an unparalleled subtility of the construction, big scope of glazing and therefore a new relationship between exterior and interior with changing lighting character. Facade suddenly didn‘t feel the need to
